Lets see Some Hunt Camp Pics

I want to look at a tent and split the cost. but a few of us are alittle scared of bears.... Have you had any problems with the Deluxe Wall tents??? does it keep you warm with a good stove at night??? This is what I would like to do but some of us are lazy and don't want to cut fire wood or set up a tent in the middle of the night or buy a better sleeping bag etc. I think that the bears would stay away for the most part anyway, but we will have guns and alot of bullets anyway(lol). Some of the guys want to split for a 20 to 30 foot camping trailer, but we would like to camp as far back in the bush as far possible and I don't want to dig out a 25 foot trailer because some of the logging roads are pretty bad.

Maybe a better idea would be to just stay home and play a hunting video game... would be much easier, safer, and cost less! LOL

Sounds more like an escape from the women drinking group than a hunting group
Remember, once you get out of the truck you're all just part of the food chain.

Here I am in 1998 in my makeshift home, made from branches sticks and deadfall. I survived one week in my hut among cougars and grizzy bears. The only weapon I had was a knife along with flint and steel.....................an outdoor persuit excurison.

I was thinking the same thing... Scared of bears is one thing, but not wanting to cut firewood? I don’t recall going hunting once without making a fire and needing some firewood.

What he said...

But back to your question, I would recommend a wall tent, it’s the best idea. My group has an old CF Mod tent (A-Frame tent) and we haven’t had a single issue with it. We stayed 6 in it with a kitchen area. Plenty of room and heat. And if you buy the liner for it it’s even easier to keep warm.

Here is a link to another thread about Wall tents:

And this link is to a previous thread about hunt camps, lots of pics and good ideas:

Thanks for the info...I was looking for something like that on here... I am going to purchase a 14x20 wall tent for now...

If chopping wood is too much work buy a propane heater. As for the bears..........they are more afraid of you than you are of them. For the price of a new wall tent your group could buy 2 old campers. I have a '67 Golden Falcon that cost $600. The last owner fixed up the inside( new paint, lights, flooring and drapes and upolstry) all for six hundo. Even has a heater. A group of hunters stink of human odor, I have found that chipmunks and the odd coon are about the only critters that dont mind the people stink

Not always true. I'm a grey bearded bastage and up until last year I would have agreed with you but there's an exception to every rule.

We had one prick come to camp and we couldn't get rid of him. This was before we even had meat down.

One of the first nights there (this is a camp I've been in for nearly 30 years and my dad coming up on 60, we know the area) my pal bumps into something while going to his truck. We thought what the hell. Good time to try out his wife's gen3 night vision. He was standing in the road about 75 feet away. A huge black bear.

Every 3 or 4 days he came back. When we finally had meat down we put out motion detector alarms on the trail he normally came down but he learned.

He started coming up the trail to our outhouse. We wrap a poly barrier around our cook shack and fire to keep the chill out and he was on the other side one night about 3 feet away. We had to put him down. When we skinned him out he had 13 buckshot (including 2 through his neck) and 2 12 gauge slugs through his hind quarters.... and he still went 60 feet after that. Tough prick.

I've been around the bush a long time but I've never met a bear like that and I have a new respect for them.

I'll try to find a pic of him.
