Here's my 1972 Brno Model 5. What a shooter!

5 & 1

Here is a pic of my model 5, by far the best shooting rimfire I own, shoots almost every ammo I give it very well.

Here is a pic of my model 1, seems to be picky for ammo so far, but I haven't really put it through its paces yet.

is that a 5? it looks like a 1.
i thoughtthe 5s were all heavy barrels similar to the 4?

From my understanding, the Model 2's and 4's are heavy barrelled and the Model 1's and 5's are standard sized. Mine is definitely a Model 5, they only made Model 1's into the '50's I believe.

They are all beauts, that's for sure!

I am waiting for CGN'er K98 to find this thread, he owns half the Brno's in Canada... ;) :D :dancingbanana:

Brno

The 3's and 4's are the heavy barrelled models and the 1,2, and 5 are the sporters. There are some exceptions, and to see them, go to Rimfirecentral. There are guys on there that know a lot more about the Brnos than I do. It is the best place for Brno info. Later.

Wow guys the stocks on your BRNO's are great looking!

My (actually its the wifes, she claimed it :)) #5 is a shooter, but it has seen better days, the wood is a bit marked up.

Like mentioned above, shoots almost all ammo really well, Dynapoints are very accurate, Fed Bulk packs arent quite as accurate but are great on gophers.

I have a late 80's 2E and the stock is not walnut. Anyone know what they used instead of walnut? The color is light with a little quilting in places. Would it be beech? There are some marks on the stock from a sling screw that chaps my a$$, so I decided to refinish it. I am currently sanding, finished the 220 grit last night, moving to 320 tonight and staining.

Yeah, thanks for the links TOU!

Actually, your Brno post on RFC inspired this one on CGN. I only have a Model 5 right now but plan to get one of each if I can find nice examples.

Anyone else got one? Don't be shy now.....

You're welcome...glad you enjoyed them. Some very nice Brno's here already!

Steve, nice Model #5; it is a great start. Being in Canada, you should have an easier time putting together a Brno "Pentad"...but getting harder. It took me quite a while and only accomplished with the help of some friends. (#5 was the hardest for me.)

Love them Brno's...and CZ's. ;)

My 1957 #5 from the original run of #5s, before they were labelled as #5s. Barrels still said #1 on them. It's still like new. I only wish whoever had it before hadn't drilled and tapped the receiver for the peep sights.

A question-I have a BRNO CZ468 made in 1958 and I have been told it is a training rifle. When did they stop being BRNO CZ and split? I have 2 other CZs, a 452 American and a 527 223 both pretty much brand new. Or is this just 2 different levels of quality from the same company?

Ever see a Brno Model #1 with a walnut thumb-hole?

I posted this on RFC but just thought you all might enjoy seeing a Brno Model #1 I am in the process of acquiring. Obviously it's a custom stock...and yes I usually like my Brno's as original as possible. I also don't usually go for thumb-hole stocks either. But...as much as I have a weakness for Brno Model#1's...I have nearly as great of a weakness for fine wood. Anyway this one kind of struck me and it is on the way. :)

I think what weakened me over time was seeing some of the amazing custom stocks on folks Brno's. So in a moment of weakness this weekend I went ahead and made this one mine. Probably paid too much and it is a far cry from some I have seen but still thought it worth while...I just wish I knew who made it.
