Lets see your complete 3 Gun Set-Up (Pics Please!)

OK. Thanks. Just bought another 10 rounder giving me 26 round capacity. We are relatively new to 3 gun in Calgary and so am I, but should be a hoot. Don't really expect to be competitive but just having fun. Don't have any kind of carrier for my shotgun shells so will just wear my Clays vest with the large pockets. 308 mags in one pocket and a bunch of shot shells in the other and hope they don't put us old guys through any contortions.

Wait until you get going as there are rules as to how you can carry your ammo. I think you will find that it has to be off your belt. Reloading the shotgun is a major part of the game and there are several different ways of doing it quickly. Decide on what method suits you best before buying shell carriers as they are expensive. Unless you want to shoot in Open, do not buy ported chokes as they will force you into open. Be prepared for major fun !!

A little Heavy Metal love:

26" 870 with +5 extensions and Remchokes, 18.5" M305 with Dlask brake, and NEA spring guide, bolt release and mag release. Cut down USGI stock for shorter length of pull. SAM Thunderbolt .45 1911 with Chip McCormick 10 round mags. California Comp and Carbon Arms shotshell holders. Tac Pro holster and ITW Fast Mag knock-offs.

Stop the arms race! Love it.

Haha, glad you approve! I always like to tell people thinking about 3-Gun that they don't have to spend a bundle on the firearms: $300 870 (seasonal Rem rebate), $530 Norinco AR (Marstar), $550 M&P, good to go for $1380. More cash for practice ammo!

Nice setup Steve!

Here's mine:

Shotgun: Remington Versamax Tactical (welded lifter from Casey at TacOrd)
AR: Hera Arms Upper/Lower, Ice Arms Ni-B BCG, Spikes Barrel, Samson Rail, Magpul UBR, Miad, and BIAS, Giessele Vtac, Lantac Dragon, Sparc
Pistol: STI Tactical SS 5.0 9mm

$80 shipped to my door. That was providing a new lifter for it. I was the first on he did and it has been flawless. I heard he is just selling the taran tacticals now. Tried one and it caused jams every round. Back to my tacord. It is oxidizing at the weld a bit, but it runs and doesn't eat my finger.

Casey charged me $75. No issues.

Thanks for the feedback, guys.

Schecter, is the TT one no good because it's too short? I've read they're designed for 3" Benellis.

No idea. I doesn't seem to be too short, but it sticks in the lifted position and doesn't center the round when it feeds. It allows the round to jam on the ejection port when feeding. I have read of guys using the Taran successfully and they must be if Casey is selling them. Mine must just be a little out of spec or something. I ordered mine out of the US when I ordered up a Dawson site for my STI.

You probably need to "twist" the lifter slightly to the left side of the receiver....to get the shell to centre correctly!
Sticking could be a couple different things.....it could be binding on the pins, or may be a burr on the lifter itself, or spring tension...can you take pics and post them......we might be able to diagnose the problem

I just pulled it out and went back to my TacOrd lifter. I only bought the Taran to try it out cause I heard they work and the welded one was showing some discolouration. The Taran is nice and shiny. Doesn't really matter that much though, the gun is getting all banged up and scratched from matches anyways. I may just throw the Taran up on the EE and get rid of it, just sitting in my parts bin right now.
