I have only one real DG rifle, and it is my withworth safari express made on a mark x action( actually a zastava I believe) I had it maybe 2 years and never connected with it yet. It shoots ok 2” groups at 100m!
I had the barrel cut down to 21” and I installed a timney trigger cause the original one was brutal!!

My one dangerous game rifle is also a go-to all-round hunting rifle for the part of the country i live in. CZ 550 magnum, customized to suit, in .375 H&H. I was looking to replicate the lines of an earlier Rigby .375/416 basing this in part on pics of Harry Selby's gun but also pics of earlier 20th Century examples. Stock has been shaved-down/reshaped to be both more aesthetically pleasing in the classic English sense as well as better fitting and handling, it's gotta be upwards of 35% or more slimmer than many of the CZ factory stocks, which are like logs. Prince of Wales grip fashioned, which is really nice for some carry positions, grip angle opened up as well. This work included paring down some of the metal work at the tang and trigger guard, to fit the slimmed wrist, the filing of the escutcheon on the forend (which is shortened an inch and a half or two and also slimmed), some screws. Barrel shortened to 23", safari sights (although really cool) removed in favor of a Skinner rear receiver peep - much better, polished water buffalo horn flat filling the original sight gap. Original bolt replaced with a magnum Mauser bolt. Other work on bolt function included reshaping the extractor tang from original contour. Glass and pillar bedded. Re-finished this year with layers of gloss spar urethane rubbed to satin, no matter how many tru-oil layers i put on it they were rubbed-through at carry-points and reapplying every year was getting old. This thing is about as flawless a machine as you will get out of a CZ 550 at this point i'd have to think, which is confidence inducing considering they outnumber all other makes combined in the hands of African professionals. custom cz .375 mine.jpeg
