K; Is there some way my Mauser pics. could be brought from Nitroexpress and posted here. I'm somewhat computer illiterate perhaps you / someone else would be kind enough to do that. --- John303.

I had a nice .308 Norma Mag built on a GEW 98, but sold it to another CGNer. I pm'd a few of the folks I have dealt with as I wanted to buy it back, but nobody would fess up to buying it!

I just noticed that your rifle was built by Richard Gibbs. The rifle pictured below is a .270 Win built for me by Richard in 1973-74 at a cost of $300.00. The action has no marking but I believe it's a FN Columbian 98. The barrel is a Douglas premium and the trigger is a Dayton-Traister. IIRC, Richard told me the stock is Circassian walnut.

Richard is a well respected and highly regarded gunsmith. I have little double he built you a fine rifle.

Mine also sports a nearly unmarked FN commercial action... of the rarer small ring variety.

If there were a fire in my house and I could only grab two of my guns, it would be my Gibb's Mauser and my Sako 85 Bavarian Carbine... the rest are replaceable. :)

Nice! Did the barreled action drop in? Or, did you need to do some adjusting on the Boyd's stock?

it would have dropped right in except this model has the rear thumb slide safety which required quite a bit of work ,it was pretty easy with the dremel and a gouger bit to rough it out then some finishing with sand paper

Here's mine, a hand me down from dad, lol. Gunsmith was Bobo from LeBaron in Montreal, all work done in the 60's, he picked the rifle out of a barrel on the store floor... Wood is Circassian walnut, handmade stock by a guy whose name I don't know, I'll ask dad if he remembers. 6.5X55 and it shoots better than it looks!
