Jimmyjazz,

Actually, you won't find CG marks but the small crowns all over the rifle, which are proofmarks. This tells us which manufacture made the action or components.
Prior to WWII, HVA used "in the white" CG actions without CG or HVA markings, and one particular sign is the difference of finish between the actions, the absence of logos / rollstamp on the front ring receiver and the barrel (shiny blue on the barrel, mat action). Your serial number brings it to late 1931, and before 1938, the only chambering for the HVA bolt repeaters was 9.3X57 (the model 46). It is / was a common thing to rechamber those to 9.3X62, so the rechambering may have been done here or in Sweden. Trade Ex have gone through some rechambering because people are / were reluctant to purchase the X57 (with no reasons) and it makes their stock moving faster. Nothing wrong with it, as it's professionally done. Check out the HVA stiky pages as the subject was quite covered and / or feel free to post any questioning you may have which can help clearing things for you. It will be a pleasure for me to guide you through this process. I'll try posting some comparative pics in the HVA sticky later on this week.

I have its older brother, again rechambered to 9.3-62 long ago, Serial #1### (i thnk)

Shoots real good, but too high ~ 10" high at 50 yrds.... any suggestions as the rear sight doesnt adjust for elevation.

That's a beauty, love mine great handling rifle.

I think the only way to adjust the sights is to find your load and file the rear or front sight to work for you, that's what I have done in the past with some rifles.

My advice is - don't mess with the rear sight. Go to Brownell's website, order "mauser front sight blank"

It is a simple blade front, very high, and will lower your POI. It will likely be too high, and so your rifle will now shoot low. You will have to file the front to bring POI up to point of aim. Just blacken the file marks with quick blue.

I did this when adding a NECG aperture sight to my Brno 21H and it turned out according to plan.

Yeah I am uneasy filing the rear down too. The mauser front sight blank is a good idea but it wont go on the front of the husqvarna as the front post looks like its slides in from the front if I remember correctly and the brownells part slides in from the side. hmmm, might be a custom job for a gunsmith then... Again, thanks for the idea.

There is quite a story behind this rifle, I had no idea of its history until I posted a ? on Nitroexpress > Mauser Discussion > Caliber Question. It seems this is a Civilian to Military Sniper rifle, used up to 1916 / until the German Military had a military 98 out fitted as a sniper rifle, very few of the approx. 4700 recorded have surfaced. To the best of my knowledge now 3. This rifle should also be posted in the Military Discussion don't you think ? Kindly PM any ?s you may have, Kurgan thanks for posting and lets keep those pics. coming, some very nice Mausers out there. --- John303.

Just a question Why do posters keep reposting the pictures again and again and again?
It is very silly if you ask me.
