Pretty simple rules:

1) Soviet Mosins only. Original and Refurb guns are OK. Capture marked rifles are OK is not rebuilt outside the Soviet Union. Original imperial eosins are also fair ball.
2) No Finnish rebuilt Mosins.
3) No Spanish Civil War rebuilds
4) No Romanian, Chinese, Polish or Hungarian Mosins

So basically Soviet guns and Imperial guns inherited by the Soviets only please :) This is just to set bounds around the thread.

Here are the ones I currently have to kick things off:

Top to bottom:

1) 1943 M38 Izhevsk in M38 stock
2) 1943 M38 Izhevsk in M44 stock
3) 1942 Izhevsk M91/30
4) 1932 Tula M91/30 (does not appear to be an ex-dragoon. Likely a very early 91/30 from it's birth)
5) 1943 Tula M91/30 PU sniper (very early Molot import with the moot marking under the handguard)

And because I had the photo, here are all the different types of Soviet Mosin oil bottles I have. I've got lots of others (Romanian, Chinese, Finnish, etc.) but here are the Russian ones:

IMG_1273_zpsgjs95rvh.jpg

Left to Right:

1) single chamber Izhevsk
2) single chamber not maker marked
3) post-war double chamber round oiler (I have probably 6 or 7 of these - they are the most common variety)
4) wartime double chamber oiler

Of the major variants, I'm really only missing the single compartment version that has no embossed circle on it and an example of the imperial oil bottle.

My only near original M91's- one NEW and one Remington (on the top). Both Finn marked but not significantly rebuilt. I've had no luck at all finding one from one of the Russian (or later, Soviet) factories that isn't a Finn agglomeration. I assume these fit the requirements of the thread as they were built on contract by Russia.

Here is a part of my small collection:
1. 1944 Izhevsk SVM. Unrefurbished one from early Molot import. Everything is original on this one.
2. 1944 Tula SVM. All original on this one except original aluminum Krasnogorsk scope has been replaced with 1944 Yoshkar Ola. Scope mount retains original stamped rifle serial. Showing factory repair to stock with Tula star and 1944 clearly stamped over it. It has extremely tight bore with 7.62mm gauge getting stuck right after passing through the chamber.
3. 1941 Izhevsk M91/30. Unrefubished in all its original glory as it left Izhevsk in early March 1941.
4. 1943 M38 in M38 stock.

Where did you find a non-refurb regular infantry rifle? That's a rare thing to come across. Not a Finn capture?

No, not Finn capture. Came from 2009 import. It was a pure luck on my part. Everything is pristine on this rifle, all markings sharp and crisp, wood is in immaculate shape with all cartouches etc, no signs of shellac etc. Bore appeared to be brand new and never fired through. No SA marks and no transverse pins through rear sight base. I bought another one dated 1937 in the same shape from fellow CGNer, except with what appears to be that someone drove a transverse pins through rear sight base with brass mallet...

These are just the Tula produced ones but it the only pic I have of any groups. 1931- 1944 with a few oddballs thrown in for good measure. Missing 1930 & 1935.

Great accumulation, DS! I'm assuming most are representative refurbs, yeah? Still, an impressive assortment. Do you have a similar number of Izhevsk examples?

They are all refurbs of one form or another but the almost impossible to find 41 is present.I tried to stick to Tula but a few Izhevsks did manage to slip in there. I have had so many over the years it hard to keep track anymore. I added them up once before burning all my certs and with what i have now almost 250 mosins of all types have passed through my hands.

I totally get it. I have an old legal box with all my registry era trade paperwork, nearly all of which is milsurp. I'm more tame these days, but I was a chronic wheeler and dealer! No idea how many mosins I've had as well. Definitely over 100 lifetime.

Nazi capture one. Being messed with a bit, not all parts are original, but still very representative.

Interesting that it also has a 5th Grau depot mark on the receiver - presumably it was repaired before capture? The stock is quite dark - did it go to Finland or something? Doubtful a 1942 left the factory with those escutcheons - looks like a Tula stock to me. With a blued bolt, I'd bet the Germans did significant work to it, possibly also changing the wood to replace a damaged stock with a salvaged one.

What a great dragoon example! What did the Finns do to it? (i.e. what are "treats"?)

Its not a Dragoon, its a Infantry rifle. A bit hard to tell for barrel length, but you can tell by the stock bands with the screws in them and the handguard which isn't under those same stock bands. Still is a very nice example though.
