lets see your thick bush guns!

Thanks, everything including the rings in that picture are titanium, only the trigger components, some pins, and the springs aren't. I always just fireform then anneal, load, and shoot. Often need one real firing to truly shape it. Haven't found an improved chambering I couldn't make that way yet.

This all said, I'm feeding this one in a much easier manner, I simply ordered .375 2 1/4" Nitro brass, properly head stamped to boot for travel.

Interesting.

As a novice reloader I am kind of intimidated by that process. Wanting to get into wildcats and archaic calibers but it is very daunting.

If I am correct* hornady makes a die for the caliber which can reform 8x57 without fireforming.

*rare I know

Interesting stuff, my 375 / 06 Imp can be formed from the '06 family brass ( 35 Whelen ) but to satisfy my curiosity I'm going to try making some from 9.3 X 62 , will see how that works..

The die is made by RCBS if anyone is interested; it forms from 30-06 or 8x57. I assume (always dangerous) some trimming is involved after forming and then one proceeds as usual.

Proper thick bush in the cold jungle and the Merkel working for a living, guiding coastal grizzly a few days ago. Can't use a scope in this crap.

Looks like a Ruger M77 MKII RS 9.3X62 with VX-3 1.5-5X20 mounted in Warne QD rings for quick access to the irons might work...

Ya, I bet you haul those beaters around in the thick bush, right?

MM.........The Merkel double has been hunted as well and dragged about in some fairly thick Yukon bush, in pursuit of the infamous grizzly bear. Unfortunately I had hunted all the heavy game in Africa prior to my acquisition of this rifle, however it is most definitely a hunting rifle. Which is precisely why I bought a Merkel instead of a Holland and Holland Royal..........like some on here have.........
It will be hunted with again as I intend to infiltrate Ardent's private area on the NW coast to look for my own monster bear. I know the area quite well and have flown it many times from Juneau to the Yukon border. Lots of bears and some you could saddle up and ride..........Just mounted a scope on it as to assist my aging eyes but it is very handy and shoots very well.

Beauty Gun. Nice groups too.

Loving this thread.
I'll post mine in a couple weeks. Ruger LH Hawkeye in .375 Ruger with the walnut stock. Just got it back after having the action glass bedded. Now all I'm waiting on is the peep sight from NECG. Pretty stoked.

Yup, and guys on here over and over again proclaim how the eastern hardwood forests are soo thick you might only get a 50 yard shot, I always think must be nice to hunt past 20 yards.

Indeed if you're able to set boots upon actual soil, foliage, or leaf litter it ain't thick yet. It is when you're clambering deadfall six to thirty feet above the tangle of heinous things like devil's club below that supposedly contains ground.

My NECG Peep came in for my Imposter! Going to the range tomorrow morning and will post picks when I get back. Bush gun is almost done!

I have a run of the mill Marlin 1895, but I've just had this one built for me.
Primarily for guiding work, but with a scope it doubles for a handy moose/elk/grizz gun.
Kimber Montana in .338WM with the barrel cut to 20" and NECG masterpiece sights. 6.5lbs unloaded without having the scope on it. 7.6lbs scoped up. Shoots 225gr Barnes TTSX under 1" when I do my part.
The scope is a vx-3 2.5-8x36 on low Leupold mounts.

Looks great!!! I wanted to do pretty much the exact same thing to a 84L 30-06 a few years back but haven't got there yet. Bought the Whelen and kind of got sidetracked...

Sweet rifle Nolan!
