lets see your thick bush guns!

My two for thick bush carry.
Top pic is a Marlin 1895 Trapper in 45-70 running Lev 2, 405gr hard cast RCBS FN GC with Rel 7, (which I have yet to recover one as there are always two holes from whatever angle)

Man that tikka looks sweet. I want to build a bolt action like that now.

I’d like to know more about the tikka...

Probably breathes fire with that barrel length, eh?

What kind of groups are you getting with that load and setup?

Groups with my handloads hover at right around an inch @ 100 if I do my part. I built this as a hunting/ATV carry/toss it in the truck gun and it fills it's roll perfectly. Muzzle blast is there but and would be a lot worse with a gill ported brake hence the reason there is not one on it. I originally had a Noveske KX5 Pig on it for a bit, but decided to take it off to shorten it up a bit. Muzzle blast is a bit more without the Pig, but it's not all that bad. If our country wasn't run by dictators and fools, a suppressor would be a permanent fixture on this girl.

Well, she’s a beaut. I love a workin’ gun.

How do you like the scope on the TIkka?

The scope came off my now neutered 3Gun AR. The 1-6 is just about perfect and even though it is a tad on the heavy side, with the rifle having a short barrel the balance of it with the scope works out perfectly. Personally I don't think that the extra cost of going to a Razor would be worth it or even noticeable in what you would gain by spending that extra $$.

300wm 14inch barrel. admittedly in heavy brush I would go smaller optic and loose the flash hider.

60 rounds of 190s at 100yds

55 rounds of 200s at 100yds.

bought one once that someone had put ghost rings sites on, less clunky for sure. Maybe it was a 742 though. That barrel needs replacing with one just as short as the pump, and in 7X57....:stirthepot2:

For guys with the ultrashort factory barrels do you have them stamped with the finished length and manufacturer or anything to cover your ass? I like them but I’m paranoid

Ruger No.1-S .45-70 with 350 grain jacketed Speer Hot-Cor bullets and Leupold VX-3 1.5-5X20 mounted... bottom rifle in the picture.

No need to cover your ass, these are all completely legal firearms. It's not a "loophole" or anything.

How do you prove the difference between a barrel machined from a blank to finish at 12 inches and one you took a hacksaw to in your garage to an RC

I heard that and will not fall victim to your insistent goading. :)

Probably factory markings on a rifle that never came with a 12” barrel from the factory.

If the OAL is over 26", the only question would be whether or not the barrel is at the original OEM (a registered barrel maker) barrel length (if under 18").
