lets see your thick bush guns!

Johnn and Hoyt are like the euchre champions of these threads..... We are all just messing around with what's in our hand and then out of nowhere, One of them steps up and throws the right bower and trumps us all..... Lol

A while back, in the market for a Vancouver Island Blacktail rifle and :(I was a little slow off the mark on this one

and Hoytcanon beat me to the punch but later offered to part with it, :dfor which I am thankful.

^ looks like you have a Zastava stutzen to get rid of John.

Don't worry just send it east.

My 1st 'experience' with a Zastava was when I decided to pick one up in ".366 Wagner".

The Zastava is a little on the 'rough' side compared to much of what else is available these days but I was amazed at the out of the box accuracy with my first batch of handloads. To my way of thinking, definitely good bang for the buck.

With that kind of results on paper, I thought I'd pick up something along the same lines for use here on the Island and ordered one in 7x57..

Very shortly after it arrived from Tradex, the ball started rolling on the Ruger deal with hoytcanon..

You have way too many nice rifles JP. There oughta be a law ....

:)Thanks guy. I've spent most of my life acquiring and using what I classify as decent quality hunting long guns and decent quality handguns. At my age, I should be at least considering downsizing but that doesn't look very likely, in the foreseeable future anyway. As long as I still enjoy using them in the field, enjoy reloading for them and even punching paper, I'll hang on to them. I plan to leave the burden of what to do with them after I've finished using them to 'the family'.

Good on ya John. No reason to get rid of any.

Wish I knew how to post a picture. My short bush gun is a remington cdl in 350 magnum. It wears a leupold 1-4 x20 . With 225 accubonds it shoots an honest inch and will reach out if a longer shot presents itself.

yeah those rugers look they have been or will be drug through the bush..lol come on guys..

Lotta presumption there, this pretty gal has been on two coastal rainforest / mountain hunts and suspect it'll do many more. One can find a good quote on pretty rifles on any of Why Not's posts... Amusing a rifle has to be a Savage or Lee Enfield apparently to see real use. ;)

And of course the best thick bush gun, a .375 double rifle... Now just to figure out how to make it weather proof. Note the black spruce jungle behind the bison, as thick as bush gets except on the coast... The second pic. Dogleg shot the bear with his own rifle, but this one has looked at its share of Grizzlies (many), Bison (many), Lion (few), and Cape Buffalo (many though just one foray) from close range in thick ####. Likely replaced by a Kimber Talkettna with a cut down barrel for now.

Ardent.... that is some of the nicest wood I have ever seen on a rifle and could not look more ' old English '.
Thanks for sharing with us, you echo my sentiments.... No matter how nice it still gets used in the field...
