lets see your thick bush guns!

No he's serious, if your not taking a .375 or larger caliber with you in the bush it will be a one way trip, even smaller animals can smell fear and smaller cartridges, soon they will gang up and you'll be consumed by a wild pack of gophers or chickadee in one of the smaller thickets, one of the worst ways to go. Everybody knows that.

The dreaded chickadee flock peck of death . I knew a guy who went out with a 6.5X55 in the dog hair poplars once , all we found was a blood stain with thousands of tiny foot prints in it , I don't want to say anymore .

OMG! And here I thought I had it all covered for wolves, bears, cougars and sabre tooth tigers. Now I gotta worry about chickadees?Any suggestions for a good chicadee protection rifle/caliber?

Marlins!

Top one is in 35Rem, bottom one is 30-30. I put 1.5-5x20 Leupolds on them.

Both have had the cross bolt safety removed & replaced with a safety delete. I prefer the traditional half #### safety on them.

And they both like the LeverEvolution ammo!

Cheers
Jay

I’ve been looking for a older JM marlin 336 in 35 rem for some time. It and picked one up on the EE a week or so ago took it out yesterday and was pleasantly surprised at the accuracy with the 200 grain Remington ammo. Now it’s time to start reloading just have to get some 200 grain round nose projectiles. Super excited about this round and can’t wait to carry it while running hounds this deer season. It was worth the wait to get this older jem.

Your best bet for availability is the gummy tipped Hornady 200gr FTX designed to be used in lever actions I find them far more often on shelves than other bullets these are the bullets used in the LeverEvolution ammo.

I have a 21" barreled T/C Contender carbine in 35 Rem I load the 180gr single shot bullets - 200gr FTX - 230gr RNFPGC cast bullets I buy these from Jethunter on CGN.

Thanks Camp Cook, I know the gummy tips are pretty common to find so if all else fails I will load them

Now here is a real "bush gun". All others esp lever guns pale next to it. :)

760 in 30-06 cut to 20" with Williams FP receiver sight loaded with 180gr Hornady RNs for the full FUDD effect!

This is my 14" barreled T/C Contender carbine chambered in 338JDJ #2 = OAL is 27.5".

I have some issues with the Hornady resizing die internal threads are stripped on the expander ball crappy - weak design so can't resize my 444 Marlin brass down yet but when but when I get the new pieces I will with 180gr Accubonds @ 2500fps have a 300 yard combo.

I can also load up to 250gr bullets for thick - close in bush work I've been shooting a few 250gr Sierra Gamekings but haven't chronied them yet using the resized brass that came with the barrel.

The huge 4-12x Bushnell scope will be swapped to much smaller Leupold VX2 2-7x33mm long range reticle scope or Leupold compact 3-9 duplex reticle scope after I work up my loads.

This is my 14" barreled 375JDJ it has a Leupold compact 2-7 scope mounted OAL is 28 1/2" this combo is good out to 200 yards loaded with 220gr or 225gr Hornady jacketed bullets.

My 14" barrel in 45-70 Leupold VX2 1-4x scope

Cool rail in the top barrel. Looks awesome, always liked that style on the Remington guns.

Still torn about whether to buy an encore...

I have my black flex stock stainless T/C Prohunter with a shortened to 24" stainless fluted 25-06 barrel and a shortened to 22" stainless fluted 375H&H for sale on the EE right now... Just saying... :)

So many fine firearms in this thread.
Here's my humble submission. 7600 18.5" Carbine in 35 Whelen wearing a VX-1 2-7x33 in QR rings. Trimmed the stock a bit, redid the trigger and added an oversized safety. Nice ON bush rig.
