Let's see your tikka's

I used to have a Ruger GSR and sold it. I bought a Tikka T3 Battue Lite in .308 in place of it. It's got a 20" barrel and awesome iron sights. I did add a scope, first a Leupold VX-2 1-4x20mm, and then later I changed the scope and now it has a Leupold VX-2 2-7x33mm w/ LR Duplex reticle. I've got optilock rings on it. It is an awesome firearm. Tikka is sub-MOA out of the box.

I also have a Tikka T3 Lite Stainless 24" barrel in .25-06 Remington. Not sure why you want to go with 6.5x55. .25-06 will do the same for the most part. .25-06 w/ 110 gr will do what .270 w/ 130 gr does. My Tikka T3 Lite Stainless has a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40mm Rapid-Z 600. I should have gone with a Z-Plex. The Rapid-Z 600 is too busy and unless I plan to shoot past MPBR, it is a waste of glass real estate. But it works for me and it was not cheap.

This is what my Tikka T3 in .25-06 does at 100+ yards: http://instagram.com/p/nWPtmTS9dY/ (and I thought that was 200 yards; the one on the top I think is what I put there from the 200 yard shots). That's my dad in the picture.

I got a stainless laminate t3 in 7mm rem mag for my wife which she loves and I picked up a brand new T3 forest in 300 win mag about a month ago. Love the cheek piece on the forest model. Just trying to decide on glass. I'm thinkin about putting a zeiss HD 5 2.5-10x42 on it. The rapid z 600 looks a little "busy" but I can't find one with the good old zplex. Anyways. I've started switching to Tikkas and for the money they shooot! And with all the available cool aftermarket stuff u can really do em up. A battue model in 9.3x62 is Definetly next on the list !

My wife shoots (at most) a .223 or a 9mm. I sold the 7mm rem mag my dad gave me (and he stopped talking to me for 2 years after that) because it kicked like a mule. You guys are build tough. I have to say that.

I agree w/ your comment on Rapid-Z 600 (and Rapid-Z 800, for your magnums). I shoot my .25-06 Tikka with a Rapid-Z 600, and it is way too busy. In fact, I have missed game because of it.

If you plan on mountain hunting, then the Rapid-Z is good. You have time to aim from a distance. If you are in the brush, anywhere in Ontario, stick with the basic stuff. You won't be really shooting past your MPBR anyway.

If you guys are planning on adding sights to your T3's, I have a Buttue front sight for sale on EE. I as going to add it to a plain T3, but ended up buying the Battue instead.
A nice fibre optic front sight in conjunction with a standard rear sight is quite efficient.

On the topic of Battues, I really like the fact that I can go from glass to sights using a QD mount. It really adds to the versatility of the rifle. Having a 20 inch barrel is also handy. They are rather light, and I wouldn't go higher than 308 or '06, but that's just me. :) For the money, you can't go wrong, and because there are so many aftermarket goodies, you can really "upgrade" if you want to.

Check out Cortac Solutions (Tikka Performance Center)... a great group of knowledegable guys, but just bring your wallet!!

An oldie but a goodie... M55 Deluxe .308

The last two rifles posted are also very nice. Nothing like the old Tikka craftsmenship. There's a beauty for sale on EE right now. Very tempted, but alas, I'm spending twice as much getting my most coveted rifle refinished (rust blued and case colour hardened). That's all I can spend right now.

Just ordered a B&C Medalist stock and have a Leupold 4.5-14x50 mounted in Warne rings. Caliber is .300 Win Mag

Tikka compact in 308. The compact has a 20" barrel and has a 12.5" LOP, however it comes with a 1" stock extension which consists of the 1" extension and a new recoil pad, so that the profile of the stock does not change, unlike say with a Ruger scout where the extensions are added between the existing recoil pad and the stock. The rifle weighs 5.8 lbs (94 ozs) without a scope and I have a Vortex Daimondback 3.5-10x 50mm scope with Burris steel bases and rings for a total weight of 7.25 lbs. I find it quite pleasant to shoot since I intend to shoot either 125 or 150 gain 308 bullets with this rifle. The overall length is just over 39" without the stock extension.
