Let's see your tikka's

Might as well share my recent acquisition. I saved this beautiful old Tikka (Ithaca) LSA-65 in 30-06 from being surrendered and destroyed. '73 production. Haven't had it to the range since the scope install but I am giddy as heck to see how it shoots! My first rifle ever was a Tikka LSA-55 in 243 Win. There is a special place for these rifles in my safe. I would love to find an LSA-55 in 308!

Enjoy!

Nice save !! Old school. Hate to hell the thought of a rifle like that going into the government wood chipper.

Well apparently good things come to those who wait 16 years! Not even a month after saving that LSA-65 pictured above, I run into this beauty at a local gun show!

The EXACT rifle I have always wanted. '79 Tikka M55 Standard in 308 Win. I nearly messed my shorts when I saw it. Judging by the condition, I would wager less than 500 rounds down the pipe.

Took it out yesterday to the range and shot 1/2 MOA @ 100m with a Leupold VX-II 3-9x40. My T/C 308 will be demoted to backup rifle and this fine piece of machinery is now my do-all hunting rifle.

Found some nice direct fit Talley scope rings that are meant for a Tikka T3 but also fit the old models as well! Scope height is much better without using bases. I originally wanted to use the 17mm dovetail rings but choices for them are very limited it seems.

Gives me an excuse to hit the range again this weekend!

That looks great! If you are interested in lowering any further, the bases are flat on the bottom and easily machined down to a custom height.

Thank you for the advice! I didn't even think of that, great idea.

I am quite fond of the aesthetics of this rifle as well.
I have to admit, the darker wood is really growing on me.

I am so used to seeing my Ithaca rifles in their blonde stocks... but this one takes the cake IMO.
Very similar to my T/C Icon 308:
