Lets see your trap guns

Ah ,yes the old adage the better the gun the more targets It can break.Won the champion of champions in the 80's with a Remington 1100 .so fit does matter.

That is a nice Ljutic! I recently sold my 725 Trap Max and ordered a new PFS stock with English Grade 1 grip for my Perazzi TMS. I don't shoot enough doubles to warrant having that much $ tied up in a dedicated doubles gun. For the odd time I shoot them I'll use my Maxus Sporting Clays and hope for the best...:p

My first three 100 straights were with a Mossberg 535ats. 3.5" pump gun. I repeated it with my Ithaca 37 and several times with my Baikal sxs so I'm well versed in using cheap field guns.
Some day I'd like to get a high rib trap gun to play with to see if I can shoot the same or better. I don't shoot much trap anymore. Just a couple tournaments each year but I'd like to shoot more of it. I primarily shoot skeet

Where do you shoot at? I'm in Southern Ontario too. I'll make sure I don't go to those tournaments.

Spank how did you make out with that recoilless Browning ? Tried one a few years back just couldn't get my head around it .

I shot it a few times last summer and in fact in the Handicap Championship event at the Canadians and I like it to be honest. It feels like you are holding a big chunk of gun but it points quite well and is so soft it's incredible. I was using AA 1 1/8 oz Super Handicaps and felt recoil was virtually non-existent. I was running an IM choke and my breaks were smashing to say the least. I would say 95% were inkballs and that is from my assigned yardage of 25.5 yds. It was the only shoot I used it at last year and in fact had fired one box through it on the 16 yard line two months earlier. I never tried it on caps before that event and ended up shooting 85x100 with it, not great but pretty much close to my handicap average.

It sure doesn't have that thoroughbred feel, swing or balance of my main gun, the Perazzi TMS but I will definitely hang onto it as a backup gun and for fun shooting. I may even shoot it at a few registered shoots depending who I am squadded with. It was really pissing off the guy next to me at Canadians shooting that gun but that's another story...;)

I am hoping to finally get around this spring to doing a second video of the gun, this time in use and I will be handing it off for others to try and video their reviews afterward. There was only a few takers last summer that wanted to try it, most scrunched their nose and passed but the few who tried it were absolutely shocked at how well it shot and sure loved how soft it was, especially the ladies who tried it. The common response from all who tried it after the first shot was turn and look back with a huge grin ad exclaim, "holy there is no recoil, none! Are you selling this?" LOL And not one after several shots noticed anything bad about the trigger or noticed the sound of the recoiling spring system.

I think Browning had a real winner in the gun if it hadn't been so ugly and if it wasn't bolt action. I think most trapshooters are too dead set in "tradition" to accept something a little out of the box so to speak...Personally I really like the gun and intend to shoot it more often. I located a bunch of spare parts in the US and a buddy of mine in Texas has ordered them for me and is sending them up to me so I have some parts to fix it should something break.

The Ljutic Space Gun and the Browning Recoilless are pretty close to the same design concept in the recoilless system that functions them, just different aesthetics. I'm not worried about looks, I worry about fit and felt recoil more than anything and not getting beat up in a 300 round day is tops in my books. I ordered a new PFS stock for my TMS. I am anxious to get it on the gun, adjusted and shooting with it.

For those who have never seen nor heard of one here is a pic of a Ljutic Space Gun and an article about it.

I put a few rounds through Space Gun a while back, it will definitely turn heads at the range! The recoil was very soft and the loading system takes a bit of getting used to but overall it's a real neat gun and right up there on the bucket list for a trap shooter who wants to be different!

There is a UGB25 Xcel in the EE currently. I'd like to have one of those too as a novelty trap gun but not at the price they seem to fetch, LOL

A friend of mine had a UGB25 for a while and I shot it a bit, the recoil was pretty soft. It was ok but more of a novelty than anything else and he went back to break action trap guns after about a year or so... or maybe I should say more conventional break action guns.

The fellow at are club likened his 25 to his second wife a lot of fun but pretty well did what it wanted with too many moving parts...:)

Just arrived Monday, my 30” Beretta A400 Xcel with kickoff antirecoil butt. You can still find it at a couple of gun stores in Canada, but it was discontinued by Beretta. There are rumours it will be replaced snd show up at the Shot Show next year. This standard Beretta butt fits me absolutely perfectly, so I never had any reason for something with an adjustable comb.

I owned an earlier version before, but had a bad year few years ago snd had to panic sell it. I managed one perfect round with it in the limited shooting I do. Now that I am in Terrace, BC it is very nice because we shoot 12 months a year.

My local range only has trap shooting and that is fine because it is the only shotgun sport I am interested in. Again, the gun makes perfect sense fir ne, I do not need an over under, etc. I picked up the small plastic insert that is a perfect shell catcher so I do not spray ejected shells everywhere, including over to the shooter beside me lol on a trap line.IMG_2276.jpgIMG_2275.jpg
