Lets talk about this rem 870 iron site

So this is the front site on the Remington 870 MCS 14.
Has anyone seen this on any other 870?
I have not shot it yet.
But I,m trying to workout why none of the guns I've seen it on have a rear sight.

Now that you have an actual barrel in hand with that sight might you try to recreate it when you start producing your own barrels for the 870?

And just wanted to ask too since we're discussing the MCS, would you every consider producing a little longer accessory rail sections for your current Shotgun Barrel Clamp that would kinda mirror the look of the MCS barrel clamp?

Wouldn't have to have the forward sling mounting points but something like this, modified an image of a generic picatinny rail.

Yes to both

Longer rail is no issue at all
I'll probably make a bunch of those front sights to star with use them of standard 14 inch barrles to start.
The plan to make msc bbls is not close, it's a major project and some months this year have been bad enough that we almost had to close down.
So we are being very cautious.

I completely understand. You guys are doing an awesome job though reviving the MCS from the dead. Hope everything continues to work out. I'll try to support all your great MCS projects as much as I financially can and I'm sure there's plenty of others that will do the same.

That's exactly what I'd be after is a standard 14" with that sight. Since the original is hard to come by I wanted to put together a (don't know what you'd call it) Modern/Civilian MCS package that gives the same feel/look as the original but using a regular 870 receiver as the base then have a 12.5" barrel as the "breacher", this 14" barrel, then 18" barrel with rifle sights and hell even have a 26" or 28" vent rib barrel in there too to cover all your bases lol. It'd be the Modular Combat Hunting Shotgun :)

And if you're able to, please use barrels that have the ball detent on the barrel lug where you screw down your magazine cap. With the mcs system it's geared towards quick change barrels and adding mag extensions if needed so having that little ball detent makes life way easier in that aspect. I know there's ways of keeping everything secure if the barrel's not equipped with it but if someone's using an express receiver, the new fieldmasters or some of the tactical models once you remove the two dimples in the mag tube to add an extension Remington's plastic locking ratchet system becomes useless. Just wish they would have kept the same setup right from the start for all their 870 models like the old wingmasters and police models of today.

Well we are hanging in there.
So that totally was my plan to start.
Make MCS products that could work with a standard 870 so thrcparts could " drop in".
Now it's turned in to a personal obsession to build real MCS guns
And kind of go 1911/2011 on the whole modular combat shotgun concept.
Buy blending all the cool stuff from thr M870 Trench gun, the MCS ans the micto short shotguns.
So I'm always looking for hard to find parts to work off of.

Yes I'll try to do one with the ball dedent I'd attempt to install the ball dedent in the express bbls if I could get parts from Remington .
But that seems almost impossible Still

-Will the sight be offered standalone for those that want to epoxy over the bead/pedestal on their own barrel or as a full 14" barrel with sight?
-Any plans to offer the proper length mag tube extension for the 14" MCS barrel in your picture, even if its just the tube (people can reuse their Remington ring coupler if they have a +2 or +3 (as its a two piece design))

Looking forward to it all as always! I also understand the MCS obsession, lol

It's a ball bearing and a spring..... should be easy enough to find a source other then Remington?

Thanks for all the time, money and energy you're putting into this. I'm really liking your ideas and the direction your going with everything here. Recreating the cool features from some of the specialty 870s released over the years is an awesome plan.
As a fan of the 870 and especially the MCS this is all music to my ears 😁

I appreciate that.

It a project I've wanted to start for 15 years.
