What are peoples opinions? After buying my glock turns out I love these type of guns much more then my 1911's, I'm strictly staying 9mm as it is cheap. No I am not going to start reloading, its not even an option.

I have been doing a lot of research, people seem to like them a lot. comparing them to the glock, not as many after market parts though.

what is your opinion on the M&P?
 
I love my M&P 9mm, first gun I ever bought, only happened to be this year, have put about 600 rounds through it already and has never had a hic cup, interchangeable grips light weight and built well

my only complaint is that the front white sight dot fell off after about 400 rounds
 
i love mine have one in .40 and have one in 9mm long had the short previously. i have no problems with mine. A+
 
I think its a great gun. I have put about 2,000 rounds+ (200 rounds by EE standards) without an issue.
 
The Gen 4 Glock addresses the Glock Block ergonomics.
M&Ps are great guns.
You need a lot of aftermarket parts because.....?
A .22 converion kit for M&Ps would be great.
 
Have an M&P in 357sig ... love it.. get one. i really like the adjustable palm swells giving you the option to set up the grip the way you like so it feels good in your hands. it doesn't shoot too bad either :)
 
I went to the range and shot eight different guns that I was considering, including the S&W, Glock, Sig, Ruger, and a couple of others. The M&P gave me the best results so I bought one. I have put about 1200 rounds through it with no problems.
 
I have over 4,000 rounds through mine without a problem of any kind. Great gun for IDPA SSP Division. I installed the Apex sear. I now have a 4# trigger pull that is crisp with a much shorter reset. Sear takes it out of IPSC Production due to the lighter trigger pull and the non OEM part.

The Hi-Viz FO front sight in green is what I went to and am very pleased with the sight picture.

Really? How so? :confused: Maybe I'm missing something, but the ones that I have handled seem to be the same gripframe as the Gen 3 (with a mild RTF treatment) and some extra snap-on back straps to make the grip even bigger for folks with really large hands. But with the add-on backstraps off, they seem to be exactly the same gripframe (size, shape and angle) as previous generations of Glocks. Not that I ever found there to be a problem with Glock ergos that was so overwhelming that it needed fixing...

Oh, and to the OP, I owned and shot an M&P in 9mm for about a year when they first hit the market a couple years back. Loved it. Great gun. I agree with other posters though, I don't see why you would be worried about aftermarket parts... The only thing tat I can see tat you might want to change is the sights and there are plenty of choices out there form companies like Heinie, Novak, Trijicon, Tru-Glo, etc. And now, unlike a few years ago, there are plenty of holsters for it on the market as well.

I say buy one and don't look back. You will not be disappointed.
 
I have shot an M&P .40, which led me to purchase an M&P .45ACP (I reload).

In my humble opinion, they are the best of the striker-fired, polymer-framed pistols yet.
 
The M&P can also be found for significantly less dollars than an equivalent glock.
I am very pleased with my M&P in .40. As has been said before, a great striker fired polymer. I preferred the ergonomics over the glock as well.
 
I love my M&P I have shot factory and loaded rounds through mine and it just works with no issues. For this type of pistol it is plenty accurate as well. I went with this over a glock just because it was something I could afford at the time. I have shot both glock and the M&P and I like either gun. good luck with your decision.

I have shot the M&P a number of times and I really like the grip which fits my hand better than the Glock.

If you buy one, make sure it is one of the later models with all the improvements and I would stick to the basic model which you can buy for just over $600 new from one of the dealers here.
 
I have a buddy with one and he loves it....maybe not as much as his Sig P226, but he loves it nonetheless!

I have shot it as well and really love the way the grip feels in my hands.
