i have afew red dots made in china. copys of the aim point and eotec but nether work in the day light.
quality is ok and they fit fine and are cheap.
does anyone know or have a cheap chinese copy red dot that actully works in the day light?

I Have a NC star on the sks, it works fine. Ive never shot it farther than 75 yards, but seems fine for that. I can see the sight fine during the day.

I had an ncstar on my Remington 870 broke the lens, just from the recoil lol ... luckily i asked the guy at the shop beforehand if it would handle the recoil and he said it would ... safe to say he gave my money back luckily :)

There appears to be a contradiction here. Quality is not OK, it is, in fact, quite poor. There are decent red dots that won't break the bank, but Chinese Aimpoint/EOtech clones are not one of them.

i guess it depends who makes them. there is a ton of copys out there but not all are made to the same standard. my aimpoint is really strong and is a parfict copy but like i said the red dot sucks in it. but i know some other copys of it that dont say aimpoint and are light and really week. i cant say if there red dot is any good.
thats why i put the topic.
if you know a good one put the maker and model number up!

vortex sparc is good, but the made in china thing still chaps my ass and makes me want to smash it with a hammer purely to spite myself

the lucid hd7 is also from china but imo the price point is getting a bit high for a chinese product

I've owned 3 Ampoints (M3, ML3 and micro H1) and an Aimpoint clone. Side by side, it's easy to tell which is the real one and which is fake. As you said, the red dot in the copies also suck.

My point was that both saying something is quality and doesn't work is a massive contradiction.

As for something that will work, others have mentioned the Bushnell TRS25 and Vortex SPARC. There is also the Vortex strikefire. The strikefire and TRS are well under $200, and the Sparc is slightly over $200. All 3 of them will have no issue handling the recoil on a center fire rifle and holding zero if bumped.

i sell optics for firearms, and i say the vortex and bushnells are excellent products.
personal favorite is the first strike. automatically adjusts to surrounding light and just over $200. also very compact and easy on batteries.

I've tried Eotech and Aimpoint clones and I wish I'd spent the money on something else. Even giving the money to a bum would have made me feel better about it. All were cheap junk. They were too dim to use outside, ate batteries like crazy and some couldn't even be zero'd let alone hold zero. They looked good though. Junk. TRS-25 is my go to red dot now. $130 is not much more than some of those clones and it actually performs the way I want it to. The only cheap knock-off I've kept is an Eolad laser. Its my dog's favorite gun accessory, he even knows where I keep it in the gun room. It too is too dim for daylight use and couldn't hold zero on a BB gun. All well, the dog thinks its cool :)

What are you guys buying? My 40.00 tasco red dot was awesome last week, during the sunny day and here's the kicker - against snow.

Granted it was on a 10/22, but still it was plenty bright. I woundn't put it on a certerfire.
