Let's try and build some 55/56 Tula info

Ok seeing as how info on the Late Tulas is pretty hard to come by,I figured we should try and build a bit of info ourselves.

These are ones that I have seen so far.

Latest serial number on a Top cover with Star and Date: KP59xx D (flat top A)

Earliest Star on the left side of the reciever: BK 22xx I ( backwards N)

Earliest Un-refurbed with laminate stock and handguard:

Latest Letter Code on a Side Star: CI 25xx K

Hi,
I got one as my order from Frontier. It has the left side star Tula star as well. BH 4... serial number. It has a black bolt. I won't know for sure until its all clean but it looks like its really great shape.

The top cover is blank, but it looks light there might have been a single character overstruck on the cover. I haven't had time to clean it up yet.

Backwards Cyrillic N, then X.

I was confused at first when there was no date on the bolt cover. Any way to tell 1955 vs. 56?

The Tula carbines marked with the receiver rail star also used a serial suffix. I can't recall where I read it, but "k" was the last series.

No not yet. The latest 1955 marked that I've seen yet is a D letter coded one. Maybe some day we can unravel the info if we keep comparing what we find.
