Letter series SKS.... "D"

Curious to know how many "D" series out there?

Once mine arrived I noticed that the bolt carrier and the bolt are flat in color and are not shinny like all the other russian SKS...
I am referring to the same dull look that the Chinese SKS bolt carrier and bolt....
Is the "D" series the only one like this from the "letter" SKS'S?

I am starting to think that this "D" series is almost as rare as 1949.. if not more so

The "D" is not all that rare. Your's looks like a black bolt that was stripped.

So you are saying that a unissued/non refurb all matching #'s "D" series should be a black bolt then?

I would like to here from the other "D" series owners out there

My "D" is like the shinny one.

Ive seen quite a few letter series SKS's at the shows lately. I'd assume that there was a shipment of them arrive lately.

I have seen both. They are both different than the flat Chinese bolts of which you mentioned.

Wasn't mention of the SKS-D. It was a comparison of the two types of Russian SKS bolt finishes as in the op's picture, and that of the Chinese bolt carriers with a flat finish. The two refurbished Chinese type 56 I have both have a dull grey finish on the bolt carriers but they are different than in the op pic.

I meant I wasn't mentioning it. Thought it was in response to my color/finish comparison.

I have a 53 izzy with a dull grey bolt like that. Not common, but nothing special either. Normally the letter series Russians have a typical shiny carrier.

I thought my bolt and carrier was different.. however correct for this particular rifle.
