I've never owned a Leupold scope mostly because there are other brands that cost less and have done well on the rifles I mounted them on. It's like answering the question: How much scope do I really need...? I like some thing that goes to 12 power - but I could make due with less optimal power. At the long end a 15 or 16X would be my maximum power level. I've shot deer, elk, caribou and moose using lower power levels (under 10x). I've heard and read a bit about how some Leupolds may take on dents - from the rings, or getting banged against something like a rock. Maybe some people tighten then too much. So far I haven't dented any of my scope yet. Each to their own though.
