Leupold - Are they loosing it?

All the threads I have been reading and comments from buyers seem to be no plus to Leupold these days.

The warranty issues(supplier in Canada) , less than competitive prices on some lines , and availability of low priced quality optics, this all seems like it could be the beginning of a slide down hill for the company.

I have used but do not own the product myself as I am a fan of other scopes.

Do the rest of you feel that the company that once dominated the sports optic scene may have to step aside or at least relinquish a good portion of the market to the others??
 
if you buy your Leupold from a Canadian dealer you will still get the warranty service they were famous for before they changed their policy so what's the big deal?
if you want a cheap Leupold you can buy a Redfield.
there are still a lot of "gold ring" scopes out there and the unwashed masses that don't frequent online forums looking for the latest #####fest will still buy them
 
I love Leupold because they have quality glass. Just because nobody takes time out of their day to say that they love their new Leu, it doesn't mean a thing. I was born in '95 and have a '92 gold ring scope of excellent quality. That was their prime, but they are still the top of the line in my opinion.
 
I believe that I have 9 or 10 Leupolds at the moment(all under Canadian warranty :D) I won't be switching brands anytime soon. Mur
 
There is no downside to Leupold. High quality, reasonable price and great warranty. Plus they've pissed off a bunch of internauts with their new warranty policy so it gives people something more to talk about on internet forums.
 
I have a couple and really like them, but wish they had constant eye relief.
 
I've had a few leupolds in the past, nothing really knocked my socks off. Picked a vx3 4.5-14x40 over a bushnell elite 6500 based on one reason alone, weight. The leupold is 13 oz versus the elite which is 17 oz. I have half a dozen elite scopes and the leupold has exactly nothing on them except the weight advantage. I did put alumina flip up caps and they definitely give the leupold a huge advantage. I have busted more butler creek scope caps than I can count in the last few years and I would say the aluminum version is the best designed accessory that any scope could have. Too bad other manufactures don't take note.

I have two of them, and for what they are I could not ask for something better. I am also thinking of getting an ER/T someday for the long range rig. However, I had their RX-IV rangefinder for a while, and was very disappointed as it would not work as advertised.

I would buy a leupold scope again, but i would think twice about any optronic devices from them.
 
Personally I have had nothing but good things to say about Leupold products. From my Binos to the 2 or more dozen scopes that I have had go through my hands, I have been happy.
 
So just what is Leupold setting loose? :p
Visually, leupold glass is nothing special for the price bracket.
They typically weigh in lighter than competitors scopes,that's why I hunt with them.
 
I have 4 Leupolds, 3 VX3III's and 1 Mark 4. I'm happy with them. I dented a turret and called the warranty place in Alberta and they sent me out a new one within 2 weeks. I had a pair of Cascade binoculars and lost a lens cover on a hunting trip. I called the headquarters in Oregon and they sent me out a new one. No questions asked. Little things like this keep me loyal.
