Here's the situation.... in a local classified a person has two scopes for sale.

Here's the posting.

2 long range rifle scopes. Both have yardage turits, dusk and dawn crosshair lighting. Both come with rings and bases. One is 4.5 - 14 X 50 mm and the other is 3.5 - 10 X 50 mm

I contacted the person to find out the brand and this was their response.

"They are a scope that was manufactured by Leupold but no brand was put on the scope."

I have never owned a Leupold but this one seems a little strange to me. Counterfeits maybe?

Thanks

I have a couple of those scopes. Yes they are offshore knockoffs. Like everything in life, "You get what you pay for."

Many people call them KRAP, but I've got 2 of them and both are mounted on my .22LR CZ452 Style and Ruger 10/22 Compact. Fantastic scope for the money since I can focus (side focus) at 25 meters and then engage clay birds at 100m (more side focus). No other scope will/can do that for $ 100 each that I paid for them. :D

I mounted one of them on my .223 M700 SPS and bumped of scores of groundhogs over the past 3 years. I loved that unit.

The knobs are made of aluminum, but the machining is kinda goofy, not super quality like my Mark4's but hey; who gives a crap for $ 100ish ? :)

The rings in the picture are cheesy aluminum, great for a .22LR that does not kick. I just left them sitting in the original box. Mounted the cheap scopes in my Millett Angle-Loc collection.

So are they Leupolds? Heck no! Will they do the job? Only on light kicking boomsticks. Warranty ? NONE! But after 3 years , I really don't care. You are likely to drop $ 100 on a Bushy or Trashco for your .22LR, so I chose this option.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,
Barney

Those pieces of crap are not manufactured by Leupold. I have had several come in for warranty and they are a counterfit made in China.

Whoever is telling you they are leupolds is full of ####. They ARE NOT Leupolds. They are chinese copies of Leupold tactical mildot scopes. You can buy the 3.5-10x40 mildot on ebay for about US$70 shipped.

I have a 3.5-10x40 on a .22 and haven't had problems. A buddy has one of the 4.5-14x50mm on a 22-250 and it has stood up for a couple years worth of shooting. It's a decent rimfire scope because of the AO side focus. Glass is quite clear. Adjustment clicks are something more than 1/4 MOA but less than 1/2 MOA. They are all 30mm tubes. Quality is similar to low end Bushnells, and better than the NCStar crap.

Leupold COPY

Are they a good buy??? I think they are, for about $100. C. I have one and it even has the LEUPOLD name on it (my reason for buying it, I thought if LEUPOLD is hot about this I should have one). They stand up to a 30-06 just fine. For hunting they are fine but not near the quality of the real LEUPOLD.
Enjoy.

I had the same scope, knock-off, paid CnD for it, BUT IT HAD Leupold Mark 4 and serial number on it :)))
I checked the INTERNET and found out that the same serial number was on other 10000 scopes sold world wide :))))) ALSO, Leupold officials released warning note about these scopes. Made in China, can be found under Leupold, Bushnell and other brand names......
