It appears that Leupold is no longer selling rimfire scopes in the Freedom range, since on the web site they are listed as no longer for sale i.e 2-7x33mm and 3-9x40mm rimfire scopes

That's too bad, I love the 2-7x33 Freedom Rimfire, really clear, bright and really lightweight while still feeling really solid. Got a couple and was going to buy a third, but sold out at my LGS.

The VX-Freedom EFR is still available. Leupold is shaking up their product offerings a bit, so we'll see a few changes in the near future.

We have sold many of the standard 2-7 and 3-9 optics to dealers across the country this year. Product will still be on retail shelves for the next while.

Happy New Year Korth!

Any idea when the Freedom Rimfire line might be available again?
They may have been plentiful in June, but I'm unable to locate any of the 174179 or 174181 models in Canada now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I googled that first part number ‘Leupold 174179 Canada’ and found what looks to be in stock on the 8th link down in Alberta...?

the Leupold freedom scopes are actually made in china. glad I still own my vx2 efr rimfire scope.

From the Leupold website:
“Leupold riflescopes are all designed, machined, and assembled in our Beaverton Oregon manufacturing facility. We do not have any other riflescope manufacturing facilities or offices anywhere in the world. So if you come across a Leupold riflescope being shipped into the United States from China, it is a very likely a counterfeit.”

Leupold has changed up the VX-Freedom line for 2021 - several models were discontinued in 2020 (mostly due to production issues from COVID). However, most all options are back for 2021 under new part numbers.

This is absolutely untrue. All Leupold optics that mount to a firearm are built in Beaverton, Oregon.

Thank you KGL, that is great news.
I appreciate the quick response and will keep an eye out for the return of the 174181's.

Interesting that the have discontinued the VX-Freedom AR scopes which replaced the VX-R scopes, however the VX-Freedom AR scopes where quite a bit lighter than the VX-R scopes that they replaced and I wonder if they proved to be not so durable.

I have both the VX Freedom 2-7 and 3-9 rimfire. They were both good value purchases and have not failed me in any way. Hope they continue with the same quality. We all would like to have an endless supply of the VX2 but alas poor Yorick, it will not be.

Are the Wind River binos and spotting scopes Chi-com? I thought the Rifleman scope were as well?

Side focus, finally! Back ordered that model from one of your dealers, thanks for the info!

All Leupold scopes are held to the same durability standards, as well as impact testing. The VX-R models were illuminated 30mm scopes, whereas the VX-Freedom line (predominately) are non-illuminated 1". A new line will be released soon that will cover many features you seek ;)

Bino's, rangefinders, and spotters are produced in a couple of off shore locations (mostly Japan for higher end and China for entry level). Any optic that mounts to a firearm is made in Oregon. The only exception was the short lived Redfield Renegade.
