Looks like I will be adding a leupold to the mix soon and all my current ones have the duplex(most of my scopes do).I've been partial to the simplicity of a duplex.Thinking now, I may like a different one for this particular rifle in .270 win. Opinions appreciated on the LR reticle. What about the B&C reticle?thanks

I like the B&C in the VX-3s and the LR in the VX-2s. It doesn't weigh anything, cost much or hurt anything and you don't even need to use it if you don't want to. Something that I like about the B&C is that it is a little bolder and blacker than the standard duplex and I find it grabs my eye a little quicker esp in low light.

Having said that, I've used and still own many Duplex scopes. Its a surprisingly well thought out reticle with 6 MOA spacing between the posts, which functions a bit as a quick and dirty rangefinder and one hold-over point. Probably why it was so universally copied. Still, for a few bucks I'll take the B&C

Thanks. Appreciate the input.

I really like the Leupold VX3 B&C/Varmint and VX2 LR reticles.

I have 5 B&C reticle scopes, 1 Varmint reticle scope & 2 LR reticle scopes.

Couple examples:

T/C Contender carbine in 375JDJ Leupold VX111 2.5-8X36mm B&C reticle with 260gr Accubonds @ 2300fps = main reticle 1" high @ 100 yards first B&C reticle line is 1" high at 200 yards and second B&C reticle line down is dead on at 300 yards.

Rem 700 LSS in 375RUM with Leupold VX3 4.5-14X40mm B&C reticle with 260gr Accubonds @ 3020fps = 200 yard zero with main reticle second B&C line dead on at 460 yards.

Husqvarna 3000 in 270 Weatherby Leupold VX2 4-12X40mm LR reticle with 140gr TSX @ 3250fps = 225 yard zero with main reticle first dot down is dead on at 400 yards basically a 10" drop/hold compensation.
