Leupold m3 vari x 111 question

Hi guys
I was wondering does anyone have instructions on how to adjust the elevation dial;s back to zero. I just took it off another rifle I had and put it on my 223. So what would be the proper way of starting to zero this rifle in.

Place the obj end of the scope on a mirror, look through scope and adjust the two sets of crosshairs to align with each other.
