Leupold mount questions

So I purchased a savage model 114 from cabelas and the guy at the counter set me up with mounts and such but are they suppose to stick in the action about a quarter inch? (the rear mount). see photo below for what i mean, the guy sold me model 111 mounts assuring they would be the same. Now I havnt had a chance to try extracting a round from the rifle (300 win mag) so it may work i just wanted to see if someone had experience with this.

The savage action is longer because of the bolt baffles and requires extention rings for most scopes looks like yours is one of them
 
No, it looks to me as though that scope is mounted nicely, as long as the eye relief is good for you in that position. You might have gotten away with lower rings if you have clearance for your bolt handle, but there's nothing wrong with it as is.
