I'm trying to decide between a VX-lll and a Nightforce. Mounted on a savage F/TR .308. Which scope has the better glass?

In my personal opinion the Nightforce has better glass. I've got two nightforces and a Mk4 Leupold and a couple of other Leupolds and I think the Nightforce has the edge.
YMMV

FOR the money , and you can't go wrong, Get leupold, life time warrenties, doesn't have to send across the pond for warrenties, it right here in Okatok, and if you have the coin, then try out S&B or USO, but you better spending the money on ammo and shoot lot!...

I shot out of both on Sunday the Leupold will do the job quite well very clear ,pitfalls of Leupold you can have lag in adjustments and the adjustments are only 1/4" per click The Nightforce NSX is the same but the Benchrest model is 1/8" per click, this is advantage for nightforce and they are not prone to lag like Leupolds. For 500 yards there is not much differance but 800 and out the Nightforce is way to go. I talked with Peter Dobinson last week he is a Member on site he has the nightforce in stock and i think there are contibuting dealers sell nightforce as well .

This comment is not really for the type of use a F/TR rifle will get, but if you are comparing to a Nightforce, take a look at the Leupold VX-7 series. They put the VX-III series to shame. Mind you, the price is at or above a Nightforce.

I own and shoot Leupold and Nightforce scopes. Before I bought my current Nightforce I took a good look at the VX III's. Not trying to start a flame war with all you Leupy fans out there, the VX III is a good scope, it's just that the Nightforce is significant step up over a VX III in terms of clarity, light gathering (or light loss), precision, and durability.

The downside of the NXS series is weight and size. You pay in size and weight for a scope that is so robustly built.

Like GunBoy said, for the $$ you can't go wrong for a Leupold..If you don't mind paying a little xtra $$, weight & size, then NF would be for you.

I intend to have an NF one of these days.

I've used both. The Nightforce is the better scope, but you pay heavily for it. The Leupold is still an A+ scope, and they are priced for what you get (reasonable price).

Leupold Mk 4 = A+
NightForce = A++

Were can I find Nightforce scopes in Canada? I emailed Eurooptic and they say they can't export a new Nightforce scope into Canada per Nightforce's orders. He says sometimes they get demo or used ones and thats ok but you still need the import/export license. I know Corlane in Dawson had one left but what about other stores. thanks for any info, Kevin.

We generally have 40 or so in stock at any one time.

FWIW NF scopes cost close to Leupold Mk 4 scopes with illumination. There is generally only about $100 difference.

do you have one with the CH-1 or ch-2 reticle? and price please.

Price is the same for any reticle. I currently have R2 in that scope. Orders on BR take about 3 months.

I do have a BR 12-42 with NP2DD. Lets go to PM as this is really not germain to this thread.
