So finally, my 1.25 x 4 Leupold Patrol scope arrived!
Got it mounted, now I just need to get out this week to try her out.
Review to follow.

I never understand why people bother with butler creek caps I have broken nearly every set I have laid.my hands on

Looks like.a.sweet setup otherwise

yeah - the butler creek flip-ups break if you forget them open & brush up against something - snap right off.....you get what you pay for.

But - the gist here is the scope, which looks great BTW - Leupold is nice quality glass - and your setup is perfect. Let us know how it performs!

I'm guessing it's not VX3 quality glass or anything, but looks like a good alternative to some others we've seen recently.

Curious as to why they didn't go to a true 1x instead of a 1.25... I'm guessing that plays into the final price being what it is?

I would guess you are right - these are half the cost of even some of the "lower-end" of the spectrum scopes that have true 1x. I'm ok with this magnification though.

Also these have no zero-stop, if that's important to you.

The image is typical Leupold, clear and contrasty. It remains to be seen if the red dot is good to go. The intensity/brightness of the dot is cycled by pressing the button on the side of the scope. I think I'd prefer the aimpoint style of turning a dial up or down to increase/decrease. Matter of preference.
