It is all part of a conspiracy of the US and Canadian governments. They take turns being on the bad end of a the dollar and give the illusion of a price difference. There are billions to be had in the missing void of currency exchange. Pennies per dollar adds up on big amounts and the money hungry governments split the take. I know this is true cause some guy that posts nothing but tinfoil hat BS in the offtopic forum posted something like this. Oh wait, there's a rule about not posting tinfoil hat BS??![]()
I think the profits of the CDN retailers have gone up. Not just scopes, lots of everyday items are still unjustly expensive. I'm looking to replace my garage door opener. The unit I want is $169 US at Home Depot and the self same unit in Canada is $389, at the same retailer WTF??
Why do the retailers keep getting blamed for the prices? We have to buy from the Canadian distributors. Our markups are minimal. I make about 20% on a scope.
It has nothing to do with a conspiracy, just somebody making money somewhere. As far as posting goes, if you don't like reading about current political developments or possibilities, don't read the thread. It is all part of a conspiracy of the US and Canadian governments. It's not about buying stock with the new Canadian dollar...it's about charging what the Market will bear! One example, which can be applied to all retail products.....a friend just bought a new Toyota Tundra loaded in the US. He just did the final tally. Here $58,000.00.....there $44,000.00. Do the math. The major car manufacturers charge more here because our economy and standard of living are higher than the US. And....Toyota USA will not sell a new vehicle to a Canadian...their policy! Protectionism at it's worst. My friend had an agent there buy it and put title in their name. He could buy a "Used" vehicle. Charge the Canadians more...they'll pay anything eh?
