hey guys...this might be a dumb question but i just got med qrw's put on my m14 (sitting on a arms 18 mount), but i did not install them, the staff at wholesale sports did. the problem im having is how do i detatch the rings? i losen the little levers but the scope is not budging...is the fact that they mounted one lever on either side a problem here? (they said it was the only way they could get the levers to lock). thanks

you should be able to spin the levers out until the clamps on the rail are loose and then tip/wiggle the scope off, sounds like someone at WSS doesn't know how the rings work...i am driving around cowtown this week if you need help PM me for phone numbers....

Hijack! Hijack!
How good are those Leupold QRW rings? can they ALWAYS keep zero?and what caliber you are shooting with them?
Do I need the quick release base from leupold as well?

has anyone put qrw's on an arms 18 mount b4? im starting to see why wss switched sides...i think the lever of the ring would hit the bolt handle if mounted on the right side but a lever arm would also hit the side of the mount if on the other side.....the problem still remains...i cant get the scope off..frustrating!

i just thought of a solution..not sure if its a good idea. both levers could be on the bolt side if i opened the action to release one ring and closed the action to open the other ring. is this stupid? also is there a way to set the rings so the levers tighten at a position that you want it to? one of mine tightens in a down position that would get in the way if mounted on the other side. let me know what you all think

if you can get the newer ones which have the square cross bolt (the early ones had a round crossbolt and were only suitable for lighter calibers in my opinion) and make sure both crossbolts snug up against the front of the base - especially true of Picatinney bases which have a wider slot. ypou don't have to use a leupold Base any weaver or picatinny base will work (try to get steel if you can) They rattle a bit so I got tiny o-rings to put n ther thread of the screw inside the lever to get rid of the problem

Referring to Platmumbob's question they are adjustable to different lever positions - once they are tightened you just pull the lever sideways from the base and index it to where you want. It is spring loaded so it will return back towards the base once you release it.

johnC thanks for that info, the instructions are horrible and i didnt realize the lever position could be changed so easily...now im a bit ticked at wss for mounting this all wrong and giving me crap info. i guess there is no reason why i shouldnt be mounting them on the same side so i can actually get the scope off!

just remounted the rings the "correct" way, the rings work great, i can dismount my scope in about 10 seconds, with about the same amount of time to re-mount. i highly recommend the qrw's...........and not so much recommend wss's service (there price is good tho)
