So I already have one of these scopes and really like them, and I bought a new rifle so I though, I will get another.

Now I find out this scope has been discontinued much to my dismay. I had been looking through the 2018 catalogue, and there does not seem to be a direct replacement. I liked the scope because it had some great features at a reasonable price and was also fairly light weight. Was it just not popular, it usually seemed well recommended? A replacement doesn't seem like the kind of product that would get announced at SHOTSHOW. Obviously there is always the secondary market, but what other options are out there at this point?

Suggestions welcome.

These are made with a two piece scope tube right? There is a replacement for this rimfire scope as far as I know. It’s not called the vx 2 tho. It’s under a new name I believe. American series if I remember correctly

An absolutely awesome scope as I have one mounted on a cz 452 American . its a pretty pricey scope (at least in Canada ) for joe 22 to put his gun .while certainly worth the money its a long way from a lot peoples budget for a 22 scope . as noted leupold has a new scope out that takes the places of the VX11.the rifleman 2-7x33 it has a much lower price point I believe .

Gonna guess the new lower priced one will not be as good as the old model. With lower prices almost a givin that quality will not be as good

I had one that I have since sold.. great scope. I just needed more magnification for my use.
You should be able to find a good used one on the EE for $500 ish. Like Rembolt said, they're pricey but excellent quality.
I don't think Leupold sold as many as they would have liked to, most .22 owners will choke at that price point.
The Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 EFR isn't a bad scope for the money, which is considerably less than the Leupold. Again, I had one that I've since sold. Down sides are 1/2 MOA click adjustments and plastic turret covers. Glass is decent, good for the price. The ocular bell is quite large, may be a problem on rifles with a high bolt throw.
The EFR feature is really nice for short range rim fire target work, as you already know. Leupold doesn't offer many scopes with it, the next one I'm aware of is the VX3i 6.5-20x40 EFR, but expect to drop $1k plus for it.
They also sell an Alumina 50 foot adapter that screws into the objective bell of their 40mm AO scopes. It MIGHT allow you to focus at 20 yds, more likely it will focus up to about 18 yds.

What did you wind up replacing both scopes with?

I decided to stay in the Leupold line, a VX2 6-18x40 AO, which unfortunately only focuses and eliminates parallax down to about 23 yards. I have the 50 foot adapter to shoot indoors at 20 yds, but it's not perfect. At any distance over 23 yards, it's a great scope. Same fine duplex cross hair as the one you have.

Looks like I got the last one. Thanks ProphetRiver! The VX-Freedom line is front and centre on Leupold's website, doesn't look like there is anything remotely close in the Freedom line to replace it.
