Hello, so I'm just starting into the long range scene. Figured I'd get myself a good range finder to make ballistic calculations alot easier. Well I picked up Leupold RX-1200i TBR DNA. The thing has a hard time picking up anything over 450 yards... In the specs it says that it will do 800 on deer, 900 on trees, and 1200 on reflective targets. Well I was shooting at 798 yards today(which went well actually!), but I had to take multiple measures to make up the 798. I'm using a 12"x20" chuck of steel mounted on top of a barrel, so you'd think that'd be easy enough for this range finder! Well it was having serious troubles even finding it at 500 yards.
There was a massive old barn in the field, I was only able to range it out to 806 then nothing... Pretty disappointing, I mean this barn is F**king huge! I don't understand how it can not read it past 806. So from my experience, for it to read out to 1200 yards you'd need to be ranging the titanic or the empire state building. Kinda pissed off for the money I spent.
