Leupold scope fogged up

I wonder if we all bubble tested all our scopes how many would fail?

A better test would be to take a scope at room temperature then place it in a deep freezer for fifteen minutes then take it out and see if it fogs up. I'm sure even a Kidd X super duper expensive scope would fog up.

They all fog up on the outside LOL (except elite rain guard).

Ever get excited for a shot, start breathing heavy, pull up for a shot, and then breath all over the scope?

I sent a scope to them in the spring and had it back repaired in a week.

That's strange, they've had my vari-X III for a month now

On the outside, sure. Its when they fog up on the inside that you have a problem.

If any have done a long hunt in wet snow fall and doing a good walk up and down revines- will result in heavy breathing on the scope... All I can say is keep the scope covers on till the last moment before the critical shot... Also, send the scope away for repair and ensure that what you are using in the mean time is dialed in.

If a scope has fogged up internally once, it will fog up again. Have it repaired before it costs you a future opportunity.

Send it in. If it fogged once, it will do it again.

YUP if it has leaked it will always leak ! Send it IN . RJ

I love Leupolds, but their pricey buggers. I would send it in ASAP

I lost all faith in leupold when I lost the chance at my first moose because my scope fogged up. ... granted was external but I was young and spent whatever little money I had on a brand new vari x iii ... sitting at a swamp on a cold damp snowy morning. I realised it was foging so every couple min i would wipe off ( i didnt have lens caps ) moose came out, i raised the gun and nothing but black. Moose was back in bush before I could do Anything. I ended up shooting one at end of the week but I have never used a leupold since and never will again. Since I have a pile of bushnell elite 4200 and 6500 and zeiss and Schmidt and bender and have never run into the same issue.

I've been buying Leupolds for close to 50 years now.
I had trouble with only 2 of them.
One the adjustment for the crosshairs would not work.
[They sent me a new one].
On the second one it was similar, [the crosshairs], would not track.
They fixed it.
So far Korth has done good by me.
Next new scope is till going to be a Leupold.
