leupold scope for 17hmr

I am a new to guns and scopes, I am going to buy a henry varmint express 17hmr mostly for gopher hunting, but i would like a good scope for it, so i was looking at a leupold, and would like some opinions on which one.

here are some i was looking at.

GOLDEN RING VX-III SCOPES · 3.5 - 10 x 40mm Mfr. # 55046

RIFLEMAN SCOPES · 4 - 12 x 40mm Mfr. # 58160

any opinions would be great.

The Leupold scopes you mentioned will work OK but are parallax free at 150 yds. A better choice may be the VX II 4-12x40 with adjustable objective so you can dial in the parallax for the varying distances (20-200 yds) of the 17 HMR cartridge. The majority of scopes we sell for the 17 HMR (especially heavy barral models) all have parallax adjustment. These type of scopes can be had from under $100 until you reach your budget maximun. check out leupold 3x9 efr rimfire scope, i have two of these one on my high power pellet rifle the other on my crossbow they work great.
