Leupold Sequoia spotters

I recently started dabbling on E-bay and have seen the Sequoia spotters for sale a fair bit. I've had the use of a Gold ring a couple of times and wanted one from the minute I first looked through it.

How do the Leupold Sequoia scopes fair. I don't use a spotter enough to justify the $1300 but could see spending $300 to $400 if they're any good?

Are they easy to look through or are they just a good name on a crappy glass?
I've looked through a few Bushnell cheapies at the range and can't figure how i could glass all day with the POS!!!!

PS. I already have a good pair on Nikon Monarchs but wanted that occasional higher magnification.

Id steer clear of the Sequoia, the one I looked through appeared to be no better than a $250 bushnell once turned up above 20x

Yeah, Sequoia are good scope it the power is kept at 15x but crank it up and it’s all down hill...

hmmm. Yea. I had 2 sequoia spotters .(windriver) The first one started coming apart on the inside. Flakes of paint inside the scope started falling on the glass on the inside. Sent it back. Sequoia #2 seemed ok until i took it hunting on a rainy day. It fogged up immediately and never unfogged. That scope was great for keeping the fog on the inside of the scope.
On 15x it was ok i guess but crank the power and forget about seeing anything unless you like squinting through a pin hole.
Cannuckgunny. Ship it back and dont look back. They are a poor excuse for a spotting scope.

I did trade up to a leupold compact spotting scope. Love it.

I've got the one that goes up to 60X... haven't really had a chance to get it out in the sunshine yet... but I will say the tripod is complete CRAP! I will test the glass tomorrow, but fear from first impressions that I may be checking the return policy... Leupold should NOT be putting their names on this junk.

I bought the new golden ring compact 10X20X40 spotter this past season and packed it over the B&L Elite 15X45X60 I have used for years.It worked quite well for an under $400 spotter.Brighter than the pinnacle 10X42 binos @10X in low light.Resolution @ 20X is good enough for judging tine length at 800-1000yds,and it only weighs 16oz.I am very happy packing this spotter and will be leaving the heavier one in camp.RB
