They seem solid.. but are very cheap. Generally you get what you pay for. Are these an exception because of design? I want to mount a scope that’s about 1k (hunting scope)

General consensus is they are trustworthy or just a cheap get by kinda product?

(I’m taking about the dove tail ones that twist into position)

Just because it is a $1000.00 scope doesnt mean it is worth the money ones spends on it.
I'm a Leaupold fan for the simple reason they have fit on nearly every rifle I have ever owned...saved for the Model 94 AE and a couple of Parker Hales.
Plus they are readily available .
Why do they seem cheap to you?
They are steel and mostly made in the USA.

There are a few dealers who may not like them however they are the most common bases and rings we use in the store. We have mounted several thousand scopes over the years and most use this system. If you plan to take them off and on frequently then a ring system based on the Weaver system would be a better choice. The Leupold Std system is a little harder to install for first time installers however by having built in windage adjustment at the base, they allow more flexibility than most. Phil.

Ok thanks for the in put. I already have them but didn’t want to waste time and ammo if they were crap. They don’t “seem cheap “ they ARE cheap and that’s why I was doubting if they were any good or not. But apparently they do the job just fine!

I have had a few sets of leuopold PRW rings and I would avoid those they are total crap. I have been using different types of weaver rings with good results.

The mounts and rings mentioned were the gold standard for many years. It is an excellent combo and my most accurate rifle happens to have these on it.

They are good for a few of reasons already mentioned earlier in this thread.
However on more than one occasion I've had the big windage screw on the back loosen up for no apparent reason. If your using them on a bigger boomer put some blue loctite on it.
