Hey guys I have a Leupold VIII 4.5X14 scope, its got some wear and marks on it but still in good shape. Being the broke university student I am was thinking of selling it and downgrading, just wondering if anyone could give me an idea of what it might be worth?

I'll give you a better answer as I have been watching the EE for one for a while now, and have missed a couple for $300 and $500 that SOLD.
There are others posted from $625 shipped up to $950 that haven't sold. (A couple with B&C reticule in there.)
A quick search in the EE optics forum will give you an idea of what they actually SELL for.

There are a couple of VXIII 4.5-14x40's with minor rings marks available for $625 shipped. The add has been bumped.

From what I have seen, $500 and down sell quickly. Over $500 and they don't.

Thanks guys, my old man gave it to me so I'm not to sure if I wanna get rid of it yet, just wanted to get an idea in case it gets real tight.

By the time you sell your used good-quality (and lifetime-warranteed...AND received from your dad!) scope, and then buy a new/used cheaper scope, how far ahead will you actually be? A couple hundred, tops? And you'll be using a scope that's inferior, mechanically and probably optically and warranty-wise as well. I would think long and hard before doing this. Selling stuff that you just don't use is one thing...downgrading is usually a false economy.

I bet its a Vari-X 3 if its being passed down.

List it for $450 and go from there. Start high and work from there.

If its VX3 4.5-14x40 they sell for $820 plus tax....Dont let it go for anything under $650..just my opinion as Ive done lots of deals on the EE

Cheers!!
