I've read all the posts in all the threads under boresighters when I did a search but i'd like some feedback on which of the boresighters would be best overall for AR-15's, SKS's to .22 bolt actions and all bolt actions.

I've been shooting for over 30 years and always did the look through the bore for bolt action rifles which usually works out pretty good. For semi's I just eye it up and sometimes I get it close but as you all know sometimes one can run through a fair amount of ammo to get it bang on.

I've more or less narrowed it down to the Leupold zero laser magnetic or the Bushnell optical with 3 expandable arbours but welcome any other manufacturers/models ect.

All thoughts and opinions welcome.

Thanks in advance.

We mount scopes for a living and have access to all of the bore sighters on the market. We now use the Bushnell expanding arbor system (3 expanding, one fixed .17 cal). These tend to work the easiest and due to the expanding arbor center the unit in the bore. Phil.

i have both the magnetic and arbor type sighter. the bushnel arber sighter wins hands down. i just don't find the magnetic one to be very accurate or repeatable

Why not shoot the rifle to establish zero....

I've been doing that for 35yrs, I'd like a boresighter so I can install and have them set up to be on paper at home. I've also been putting on quite a few scopes for others recently and figured it would be beneficial for new shooters to be on paper out of the gate.

Thanks guys for the advice, I had been leaning toward the Bushnell optical unit and with your advice I think I'll be getting it.
I was out of town for the night and just got in. Phil I'll check out your site here shortly and take a look at your Bushnell boresighters.
Thanks again for your assistance.
Cheers

i have the bushnell magnetic one . i find it accurate for me . ive had no troubles with it .

I have the Bushnell unit with expandable arbors. With the arbor inserted, the unit sits too low with the top roughly at the same height as the FSB shelf.
