Looking for an entry level scope. Eye relief and F.O.V. are important to me. Hard time choosing between these entry levels. Any advice, opinions? I'm hearing lots of good things about Vortex Diamondback. As for Leupold VX-1, I've heard that the line does not offer good enough value when compared to other brands. Any truth to this?

Thanks in advance!

I dont have have a VX1 or a Vortex but I do have a coule prostaffs that I bought several years ago! Im quite happy with them however they are not as clear as my VX3, Monarchs, or Minox scopes. I would buy another if I found the right use for it.

J man;
I have just ordered a Leupold VX-1 2-7 rimfire for my DAR22, so it will be a week or so before I can offer a review. However I owned a VX-1 2-7 compact for 15+ years (it was mounted on a Ruger Mini 30) and loved it. With that in mind it was a fairly easy decision for me to go with another Leupold (my other possible choices were Nikon or Vortex). My only experience with Vortex is with a Strikefire red dot that I have mounted on my S&W M&P 15-22...its ok, but certainly not in the same league as Leupold from a quality standpoint.

It would help to know what type of gun and the purpose of the rig.

I'm mounting it on a Marlin 795 rimfire for small game hunting. Man I love that 795. It's so light and accurate. I could swear the sling weighs more. :D What are good rings for it? Gonna mount it really low.

I have a Diamondback 4-12x40 bdc reticle on my Belgian Browning T bolt It has the ao feature as do all my scopes. You won't go wrong with one of those. Very clear glass. Another option might be a Weaver 3-9 rimfire with ao. A little smaller but also clear and bright. There are cheaper scopes out there, been there,done that, no t shirt.

you can't go wrong with the Vortex on that set up. If you manage to ever break it, they have the best warranty running. Typically because they seldom ever need to have anyone use it.
