Leupold VX-2 and VX-1 scopes replaced by VX Freedom scopes

They are always way over priced and I guess the reason for that is because the distributor has the retailers sign agreements not to sell them for less than a recommended price, except when they are discontinued models, however still over priced for what they are! I guess that is why some retailers will sell them for less if you go into the store in person and ask. I am not saying that Leupolds are bad scopes, in fact I think they are quite good, especially in regards to weight compared to other manufacturers scopes.

The VX 1 and VX 2 scopes are now discontinued and are replaced by the Freedom line that Leupold describes as VX 1 price with VX 2 quality. We are sold out of these older models and should see the new Freedoms any day now. We did not have to sign and any agreements with the distributor (Korth) and can sell our Leupold products for what ever price we feel is fair but since the wholesale price in Canada is greater than the USA we are limited by simple economics. Still one of our best selling lines of scopes. Phil.

Aesthetically the scope isnt my cup of tea and the name of the line is lame but perhaps it will make up for that in optic quality. I was quite pleased with my last leupold, a VX3i, quality was 10 out of 10, the free turret was great and with my load info used it to take a whitetail this fall at 455 yards. Like mentioned in above posts, the only thing that is remotely interesting is the reticle.

Thanks Phil, good info. Korth has a good reputation for standing behind their product.

I just purchased the Freedom 4-12x40 with T.R.I. MOA reticle (Thanks P&D ) for my Tikka T3X 6.5x55. So far it seems to be a good match.
My range only goes out to 300 yards and I had zero issues getting on target utilizing the reticle.
I like the turrets, no more friction dials either.
I paid $399 + tax

I agree the looks aren't the best but the squared off turret caps allow you to use levels for scope mounting now which I could never get to work with the old angled/domed covers and turrets.

My freedom series rimfire scope is the one I use the most now. Works great. Able to use the reticle and my rangefinder to hit targets at various distances without having to guess

just picked up the vx freedom 3x9 40mm for 289plus tax. ive been really impressed with the clarity and quality of the glass, defiantly better then the vx1
