Hello all,

Looking to upgrade the optics on my Benelli MR1. Currently have a Vortex Crossfire 1-4x20mm in a Burris PEPR mount. The clarity of the glass has become less satisfactory to me as I've acquired better and better scopes. I've been pretty impressed with the Leupold VX-3i series lately, and I'm thinking that the 1.5-5x20 in a Mk. 2 1-piece cantilever mount might be what I need.

Curious if anyone else has owned this specific model, and what your experiences were.

One downside I see in this swap would be the loss of illuminated reticle, but I don't want to go down in quality to the VX-R, and the VX-6 is probably out of my price range for this. Also, my rifle-mounted flashlight might negate the need for an illuminated reticle in midnight farm-varmint emergency situations (bad coyote problems on the family farm).

I've owned several. Currently have 2. One of my favourite scopes.

Light weight, bright and tough. Also quite useful on a wide variety of sporting rifles.
 
I have 2 of them. Dedicated hunting scopes. One is now mounted on my .308 M700 and the other was mounted on my lever action 45-70 (now sold). Practicality... excellent light weight scope. Low light optics is excellent compared to my bushnell trophy and Hawke scopes. Took both my bear and deer right a sunset last year and the reticle was crisp.

This year I bought a new VX2 2 - 7 x 33 on clearance as it is discontinued to be replace with their new line.

He has me addicted to VX-3 scpopes. I am up to 4 or 5.

They are an excellent optic at a price point I can live with.
 
I have the older version which was referred to as the Vari-X III. It has a wide field of view, long eye relief and uses excellent optics. You can't go wrong with the VX-3i 1.5x5x20mm.

I also own Vari-X IIIs and VX-3s in the following magnifications: 1.75x6x36mm, 2.5x8x36mm and 3.5x10x40mm. I have never had a single disappointment with any of them.

Scopes with 30mm tubes and /or large objectives are popular but I would rather go with a 1 inch tube and the best optics I can afford on a hunting rifle. Most jurisditions restrict the legal shooting hours, so personally I prefer a smaller/ lighter scope on my rifles.

I have a vx3i on my 300 win mag. Happy with it so far. Dont pay full price as you can find a decent sale if you're willing to wait and watch.
 
I have a VXIII 1-5X20 and a Mark 2 6-18X40. The clarity from both are excellent, consistent tracking, great eye relief. The VXIII is now on a Bavarian 30-06 and I love the combination for hunting. I can't comment on the Mark 2 or Mark AR 1-5, but my 6-18 does a great job on my varmint rig.
