Leupold VX-6 Question

The new VX-6 scopes from Leupold look great on paper.. anyone used one? My question is how come they haven't come out with a higher magnification scope than the 2-12? Seems to me a 3-18 or even 4-24 would sell great for those wanting a real multi purpose rifle for both short and longer range hunting, especially for a flat shooting, out west type caliber...

Any thoughts, or anyone heard if they are going to expand the product lineup?

The 3-18 is about the same price as Swarovski 3.5-18, I chose the Swarovski
Tried twice to order a 1-6 Leuplod but my crappy email failed me miserably, figured it must be a sign, so will wait to the new year to try again as the season was ending, Look at Plainsight solutions a dealer on here, best deals on Swarovskis 3.5-18 and 5-25, if interested

I'm looking at the 2-12 myself. I like the power range, the cds , high quality glass and coatings, an illuminated reticle, and the ability to use the alumina covers, all in one pkg. If it came in 1" tube, would be even better.

Jeez - the pricing I've seen has the swaros (Z6) a solid 50% more than the VX-6. Anyone else want to weigh in on the pricing or quality comparison?

Also - I'm a sucker for the Alumina covers - hence my desire to stick with Leupold...

The 3.5-18 is a z5 around $1500 to your door from Plainsight, cheaper then the Leupold

Had this Leupold VX6 on the rifle for a week or more and sighted it in today. It is a 2 - 12 x 42 and it is great.

The group measures .75 c-c and was shot at 100 yards. Very close to 2" high at 100 yards so not much work left to do at 200 m.
The load is 58.5 grains of IMR7828 and a 160 grain Speer Mag Tip and one round over a chrono this AM gave a velocity of 2884.

Thr rifle is a Model 700 BDL SS in .280 Remington. Purchased in '98, and checking the year of manufacture on the barrel it looked like a KO indicating May 1994.
On closer exam, the "O" appeared to be a "Q" (indicating 1996) but stamped upside down but a further exam under a loop looks more like the stamp rebounded leaving a secondary print of the "O" in the upper left quadrant.
