Leupold VX Freedom "Rimfire"...any takers?

Hey KDX~I just bought the VX Rimfire 3-9 about an hour ago ( :) ) after eyeballing the demo one for about 15 minutes at various distances in store. Again. @ 3X, it appears as though you can focus on targets as close as about 20 yards, and @ 3X, hoping there is no weirdness shooting it close when I finally get it mounted. That would be this weekend, but Canada Post is holding something I bought hostage and well...let's just say I hope I can try it in 2018. Ugh

Which alternatives would you be looking at for $500.00? I haven't been keeping up on optics at all these last few years as I haven't bought or built anything.

I'm no authority on scopes (or much else) but the two I was, and am still considering as upgrades to scopes I have on existing rifles are the Burris E1 4.5-14x42 AO, and a Nikon Prostaff 4.5-18x40 with a dot reticle and 1/8" adjustments. I like the Burris for a host of reasons, mostly glass clarity and reticle. The Nikon for the fine/dot reticle, increased magnification and mostly the 1/8" adjustments. I've always thought it would be allot of fun to have the ability to adjust a scope that precisely. No real practical reason, I just want to try it. :)

Moving up from there, I try very hard not to look at Sightron S-Tac scopes...but for whatever reason, I see scopes over about $300-$400 as being better suited to centerfires where more reach is the name of the game. My own hang-up, and probably a function of my limited budget. lol I just have a difficult time justifying higher-end glass on a rimfire where most shots are 75 yards or less. Yes, we reach out over 200 yards for fun when shooting gophers, but gophers are in the west...and I'm not. Here in Ontario, I'm plinking mostly....casual target shooting...sniping barn pigeons...that sort of thing.

Hey guys~figure I may get more traction on this question here vs the Optics forum. I got a chance to look through a 3-9X yesterday, and really liked the thing! (other than the mushy-feeling, plastic windage/elevation knobs)

Anyone have one of these? Opinions? Glass looks very decent for the price, and I like the reticle more than I thought I would.

Got one on my 597 and it works great. Got to agree about the windage/elevation knobs but I don't use them that much anyway...

I bought the VX Freedom 3-9 EFR and like it. I think I will send it to Korth for a reticle change to the Rimfire MOA reticle.

If your gonna spend $500 I would take a very close look at the VX3i 2.5-8.0x36 has 100 yard parallax and makes an excellent 200 yard scope-if you know how too shoot probably 300-400 yard scope. its what i use on my 223 tikka

For my personal use, I like having adjustable parallax. But that's just me.

I've been using the 2-7x VX-freedom for Rimfire competitions and I love the scope. Nice clear glass and the reticle is nicely marked for easy holdovers out to 150+ yards. I'm pretty impressed by it.
