I just bought a Leupold VX-II and I went to mount it today and when I set it in the rings I noticed that I do not have any room to adjust the eye relief. The rear ring is sitting against the power selector ring and the front ring is at the end of the tube where the front objective housing starts. With my old Bushnell Legend I had a little bit of room on each side of the rings.

I'm just wondering if a change of bases will allow the rings to get closer together and allow adjustment on the eye relief? I don't recall off hand what bases I have on my rifle except for they are two part.

I've run into the same problem numerous times. You can get all kinds of ring configurations with different off-sets to set the scope to your preferred eye relief while still clearing the front bell and power adjustment ring. Looks like you've got an excuse to go shopping.

depends on the gun....and bases...if it`s a two piece base, just turn them around ....it should help.....worked for me several times when I had two piece bases :)

option #2: get one piece scope base :)

I did a little research and it looks like Weaver has an extended front base that will work on my gun. Heading out tomorrow to get one.

I tried turning them around but it didn't work. I had to have the rings as close together as possible to fit on the tube. This extended base should be just what I need to get that extra 1/4" or so.
