Is there any specific reason these scopes are most suited towards rimfire and air rifles? I was thinking about getting one for a .223 but was curious as to why they're "ideal" for air rifles and rimfire?

I personally had bad experience with one on a spring type air rifle, even though Leupold reccomends them for this type of rifle. It wouldn't stand up the reverse recoil. It was repaired free of charge by Korth in Okotoks Alta of course. works great on the 223 it's mounted on now, very easy to focus and adjust paralax at close ranges, as well as long ranges. bearhunter

Suited to rimfire and airguns because it focuses closer then the LR models. No reason you can't use it on a 223. - dan

Nice for practicing dry firing (if your rifle can take it) in the basement during the off season. You can focus up close.
