Leupold vx-r vs leupold vx3

I have a VXR Patrol. To be honest, I'm disappointed with it. My buddy has an ancient B&L scope and it is clearer than mine!
For about the same price, I am very impressed with the Zeiss Conquest ( the non-HD one). These are both 3-9x40 scopes.
No experience with the VX3.
My $0.05.

if you really like the Conquest look for a Meopta. Zeiss subcontracted the conquest serie.

I have both, and side by side my VXR actually seems brighter. The entire VXR line is illuminated with what i find to be the best red-dot i have seen. I find them a tad heavy (30mm tube) for the magnification, but very well made. According to the gang at my dealer (who have a TON of experience with Leupold) , the glass is the same as the VX3 line, except for the coating which apparently is better in the VX3-- allowing for clearer images at low- light. The VXR has few models and really a low- to mid magnification line.
If you are not looking for the red-dot, go with the VX3. Furthermore, if you are not stuck on leupold, dont be afraid to try the German brands.
I also see that you are in NB. You may want to take a drive to The Gun Dealer, where they can let you hold them all and look through them to compare. Thats what i did.

I already have some german glass and a vx3 looked at them at Green Diamond and kinda liked the vxr just don't know much about them, just wanted something with a big FOV and to me the vxr was brighter than vx3 at low light.
