Hi,

I have a leupold vx1 2-7 28 rimfire on my cz 452 fs.

The last few range trips with it I have been using the friction adjustment as a target turret and noting my dope for various ranges out to 200yards.

Is there any problem with doing this with the friction adjusters? Is sending the scope off to leupold for target turrets possible/worth it?

Can anyone recommend a better scope, perhaps one with mildots? for my cz 452?

BTW I love the iron sights on the rifle, installed jnp ghost rings. The ladder range adjustment on the sight is scary accurate and beyond fun. The scope has quick release type mounts on it so I can change it up.

Thanks!

Cad, that's a nice combination you have there!
There is no issue using the friction adjustment turrets to mark distance, etc.
Leupold will not install target turrets on an existing friction dial and to be honest, it wouldn't be worth doing anyway.
Leupold has introduced a windplex reticle on their 3-9x33 rimfire AO scope that might give you what you are looking for (check their website). The only issue with this scope is that you either have to remove the rear sights from the barrel (very easy to do ) or mount the scope high to clear the rear sight. There are many "bigger" scope options available but again the rear sights have to be either removed or cleared by mounting the scope higher. Your budget and magnification requirements are something you would have to decide on based on what goal you would like to achieve (perfect target set up, hunting only or mixture of both, etc). Adjustable objective is something to consider.
BTW I love my 452FS and have it also scoped with a Leupold 2-7x28.

As long as it returns to Zero there should not be a problem.
Rather than making adjustments, know your trajectory and but a red dot 35 inches above your dot. That can be adjusted later but is close enough for starters.
Beware, 200 yard shooting with a 22 can become addictive.
A mil dot reticle will allow you to use the dots or the thick part of the bottom post as an aiming point.
Sighted in for 100 yards, the dots above the cross hair can be timed for closer ranges.
I have a orange self sealing ball with an S hook through it. The ball is hung from a support at 200.
Keep the string short as there is too much movement after hits with a long lead.
Twice I have cut the string but that would be a miss!
I have used a 4.5 - 14 power scope and a 2.5 - 16 as well.

That sounds like fun Horseman, I will have to give it a try!
