I have a 1022 and would like to put one of these scopes on it, the question is, which one ? Leupold is $400, Redfeild is $270, both seem really clear, I'm just not sure what , if any issues I would have with either of these scopes on a .22. The reason I picked these 2 , is that they're available , right now at Canadian Tire.

Leupold for sure. Great warranty that is completly transferable if you decide to sell.

US made, if that makes a difference to you. (Revenge is philippine, I believe).

I'm leaning towards the leupold, but I'm not sure what the parallax is , in either of them, and I'm not even sure if that even matters?

When you say Redfield "Rev", do you mean Revolution or Revenge?
I have a 2-7x33 Revolution on my 10/22 and like it a lot, great scope for the money and superior to the Leupold Rifleman and VX1, IMO.
It says Redfeild rev on the box, when I googled it the revolution popped up.

:agree: I got a Redfield rev 4-12X40mm on one of mine .243, awesome scope, no different from any Leupold VX2 models. The only different is you save some $$

I'm pretty sure the Revolution is made in the US, whereas the Revenge is offshore. One difference is that with Redfield, only the original purchaser has warranty unlike Leupold where it doesn't matter.

Here's what it looks like on a 10/22:

Ya , that looks like the one at Canadian tire. $270 + txs. , it's very clear,

For a 10/22, be sure to get a scope which is designed for rimfire, with parallax set for approx 50 yards (or has adjustable objective). I could be mistaken, but I think the scopes you're looking at are both designed for center fire rifles with parallax set to 100 yards. There's lots of good info online about why you need to consider this when choosing a scope
Google is your friend.

I'd recommend that you check out the Nikon P-Rimfire, which they just got in stock at Bass Pro here in Calgary (not sure what city you're in, but I know Cabelas sells them too). Fantastic quality at a much lower price.

I just got a 10/22 take down, which requires a smaller than average scope to fit in the included bag while still being mounted on the gun. My top pick for that application is the Leupold VX-1 2-7x28 rimfire, which I just picked up. Lightweight and great glass.

Leupold VX-2 has leupold name and coatings. Redfield doesn't ahve the leupold name, and has its own coatings. I couldn't see a difference at the store. Not sure what that would translate to in the bush, but I'm sure the redfield would do just fine. You don't need to spend $400 for the 22, and either way both scopes are transferable to higher caliber rifles. Your call.

This is an excellent point. The parallax setting is more important than night vision at this point. 50 yards is pretty good for a .22lr .. I had a scope at 100 yard parallax and sold it for a nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 150BDC rimfire. $180 and I'm completely satisfied.

I've compared both, they are both clear , but the leupold is clearer and I like the reticle in the leupold better, it would be the leupold for sure , but the parallax issue is still concerning me ( still not sure what parallax will mean to me , when shooting .) Now if there was another brand of .22 scope , that is as clear as the vx 2 -2x7 , I'd be interested in that.

Leupold makes a rimfire scope with the parallax set to 50yards. Sounds like a perfect fit. Go for around $275 around here
sounds good, but why , if it's the same power as the vx2 , but diff parallax , is it $125 less? If it's the same glass but diff parallax , would that justify the price diff. It's becoming Pain , ( choosing a scope) .:). I'm tired of buying crappy glass. Lol

You'd have to heavily modify the Ruger 10/22 before parallax becomes the reason for inaccuracy, they're a great plinker but not a target rifle.

He's probably referring to the VX1 2-7x28.

I do have a match grade barrel , but that's it. And now I see the difference in the scopes. Looking through the scope, in store, at 200 ft , it was really clear and crisp.

OK , thanks every one, I'm gonna go leupold ( first because I like the reticle better, second it is a little clearer.)... If I don't like it it'll be on the EE next wk for $350... Lol

Compared the vx1 and the vx2 side by side tonight and found the vx 1 clearer . So vx1 it was. Also I tryed moving my eve around the eye box and the reticle didn't move off target, no matter what level of magnification.
