Leupold VX3 vs Zeiss Conquest vs Nikon Monarch

I have looked through a few scopes over the last week in a serach for a varmint scope... one of them was the monarch and one was the vx3.... the vx3 was way better than the monarch.... much clearer and the I found the crosshairs on the monarch to be very thick.... haven't tried the conquest yet but am heading up to Lebaron's on the weekend to do so....

I would go with the Leupold or Conquest. I don't like Nikon's warranty period - they are pretty brutal. I have used Leupold's warranty and it is top notch. Zeiss is a good company but I prefer the US made Leupolds to the Zeiss which I believe is US assembled with Hungarian parts but both of those scopes are pretty good.

You mean from Romania? Same company that makes I.O.R scopes.

I find the Zeiss scope to give me 5 more minutes at dusk and dawn, i can see better in the Zeiss when it is almost black, 58 years old eyes take all they can... JP.

...cause you sat outside with a stopwatch and did a direct side by side comparison with a VX-3 and a Conquest...morning and night...right? Yeah of course you did.

"Buy your Zeiss Conquest today and receive an extra ten minutes of legal hunting absolutely free!" :D

The performance disparity between a VX-3 and Conquest grows greater with each post!

No i did not but at the range i made the test switching rifles one with a Conquest and one with a vx-3 and IT is better for the last 5 minutes and you should know sir that many kills are made in the first or last 5 minutes... JP.

Both the same objective diameter and same magnification?

Zeiss Conquest 3.5X10X50 MC... Leopold VX-3, 3.5X10X50 B&C, just saying both are top choice scope but for the hunt the Zeiss is a plus for these old eyes... JP.

Nowadays, I'd choose the Zeiss. Better value for the dollar than the Leupold.

Don't have much experience with Nikon.

He stated his findings... I know from several of his posts he owns many of these scopes..... why criticize?.... he likes what he likes... OP asked for opinions and you want to argue with someone that doesn't share yours?.... are you one of those that think every scope needs a gold ring around it?....

Okay, here is a great way to tell the difference in optics.I say this because I have tried it and it really shows the differences.

Get out some milk jugs , the 1 Gal type with the labels facing you.Set them at various distances that would be typical of what you will be doing, and set some a bit further.

Now, at varying times during the day take a look at the labels on those jugs. You will see the differences in the definition and sharpness of the labels between the different scopes.

You may not be able to read them further out there but you will be able to see the definition.

You will be very surprised how big some of the differences actually are between some brands. But don't take my word for it, go give it a shot. This is where I really found the quality in glass of the Conquest to show.

Makes sense... but for joe blow buying glass, which store is going to lend you a battery of scopes to try this?.....

Well...................I guess packages of power bait across the store may have to do.;)

Get as many of your buddies to come out with whatever they have for glass for a test, maybe some gun nutter's could put together a test!

Buying good name scopes will always give you satisfaction, some preference may happen according to the individual, i also take great pride buying a Redfield Revolution at 200.00 to make sure one of my buddy with a limited budget can get a very performing scope without going broke, i am a gunnutz and for me all investment is worthed but for a season hunter why letting him buy a cheap Ncstar scope, when you can direct a person in the right direction, he will be happy and so will i... JP.

It takes a lot of time and effort to truely find the best scope for your eyes. The more you you put into it, the more you will get out of it.Its a tedious job,but well worth the effort, when you find the right one.Listening to suggestions is good, but it comes down to, your decision.I have tried them all,and Iam happy with my choices.
