Wondering on your guys thoughts on the illuminated fire dot vs the standard duplex? What’s your real world experience on the two? And which one do you consider better. Thanks

Ive heard of lots of guys never going back to a non-illuminated reticle once they try an illuminated one.

That being said i think it's something else that can break, and i hate dealing with warranty issues. So my scopes aren't illuminated.

In the slush, mist, with wet fog on your lenses, in all the adrenaline it's much easier to drop the red dot on its chest, I'd never go back

Another vote for the illuminated reticle.

On another note, I've got a VX-6HD sitting here with an electronics problem. It doesn't cycle through the brightness levels as it should and doesn't always turn back on at the setting it was left at. I'm sure Leupold will look after me without a problem but I just haven't got around to sending it in.

I have never owned a scope with an illuminated reticle, but as I get older and my eyesight is not as sharp as it once was, I figured I would try one. Have always used the standard duplex or B&C reticles.

I ordered my new Leupold VX-5HD 2-10x42 with the Firedot reticle for my 338 Federal.
I believe that in the thick brush and/or under low light conditions it will aid in placing the crosshairs on a bear or moose for better shot placement.
The thought of a battery failing is somewhat bothersome, but I will carry spare and can replace as required, and as in my rangefinder, I start every season with a fresh battery.

I will see (pun intended! LOL) once my rifle is complete.

Your scope is guaranteed for life, so simply send it to us anytime for repair.

Interesting, I did not know Leupold offered a lifetime guarantee on electronics in Canada. As per their literature, I assumed it was 2 (two) years on electronics. Good to know!
